ice, then in the days following alternate heat and ice and as the injury heals heat only. You should definetly see a masage therapist which will help speed the recovery and help with proper recovery. The sooner the better, as scar tissue starts to form, the muscle tightens and often fibers stick together. Massage can help all this.
