Hey guys,

On the weekend I must've tweaked my low back doing who knows what, and I was experiencing a lot of pain at certain times. I was able to get to the gym on sat and mon as there was no pain, but today I had to take another rest day because I could barely stand for half the day. I'll be getting a massage soon so hopefully that will solve it.
But anyways 2 questions...

Will I benefit from using a lifting belt even once the pain is gone? I do have some low back problems and am going to try to strengthen my abs more as this could be part of the problem, but just wondering if that would be a good idea

And do you guys get massages often, because I find I often get a lot of knots in my back, but if not sure if its from training or just normal. I get a massage like less than once a year and i figure i might start getting more

Cheers

1: Lifting belts benefits are beneficial any way. I wouldn't train until you feel close to 100%. Wouldn't want to injure anything more so.

2: Messages are great. Really soothe the body. I don't usually get one, unless i'm on vacation. If the massages make you and your muscle(s) feel great, then definitely continue!

Not sure bud. Pre-contest is stressful, that could be why. Poses takes a lot out of someone, trust me. Probably wants to be refreshed before the big day. I don't see why massages would benefit muscle growth.

Hold off on training until it's healed. The back is something you don't want to mess with.

massages increase blood flow into the areas being massaged giving quicker repair to damaged muscle fibres. also helps the breakdown of lactic acid bulid up in muscles which is what makes you sore and stiff. but if the problem persists go see a professional and get it taken care of.
