Last Thurs. (9/6) I was involved in a motorcycle accident in which I broke my ankle. I've been walking on it since and went to the doctor today. I thought it was just a bad sprain but the x-ray revealed that it was broken in two places. How long do you think it will be before I'll be able to seriously get into the gym and lift again?

I'm headed to the orthopedist this week so he'll give me some idea. I'm just depressed at the fact that I might not be able to lift for a couple months, if ever.

Give it time/proper nutrition. You can still lift just don't do legs.

Supplements you may need to tone down depending on the extent of the breaks. However i doubt it, protein intake is the most important tho so make sure you keep up with that. I broke my tibia and fibia at the same time and i was out for 6-7 months even before rehab, however i had surgery as well to set the bone back so that was the reason for the amount of time. My suggestion, stay off of it as best you can, take your rehab time to rest your lower body, work your upperbody, but just take as much time as the doc suggests to rest, coming back too soon will risk further injury, further increasing the amount of rehab time. I would say 2 months...but i'm no doctor, just an educated guess on my own experiences.

Just worked out today and did chest. I was fine until I went to do pullovers with a 95lb. dumbell and smashed my left, middle finger when I went to rerack it. Otherwise, I'm sticking to one muscle group when I get in there which takes me about an hour so I'm not on my feet as much. It's less intense and still a very good workout.

Still kinda pissed that no one offered to help me carry dumbells with this huge thing on my leg. Where's the southern hospitality here in VA? I'm always trying to help people out in the gym or watching them when I know they're gonna need a spot, even if they're too proud to ask. Nothing looks dumber than having a barbell removed from your chest because you didn't have a spot...
