Im not sure if this is the right place to post this but warming up, I hurt my shoulder yesterday and its got me thinking is my warm up good enough I tend to do 100 jump ropes some punching on my heavy bag and try to stretch properly but I still get muscle aches and the shoulder injury I picked up yesterday, what do other people do for upper body warmups?

I grab the 1/2 pound plates, hold them out to the side and do circles with my arms for about 45 seconds, gradually making the circles bigger as time goes by. Then I usually do a good 15-20 pushups. Finally whatever my first movement is I'll do a light warmup set (usually half the weight I'm going to start with) of 10.

You would be warming up enough if you were training for boxing, but for specific muscle building no. Trust me sometimes i dont like spending minutes warming up, but ive learned a few times, especially with triceps, easy to tear. just take your time, and stick with weights for warming up the muscles.. to warm up my shoulders i usually just take a 10lb dumbbell and do a few sets of front raises...lateral raises, and rear delt raises to try to compeltely warm up the shoulder... cause like when you are doing shoulder presses...primarily middle delt workout you still involve the other two heads as stabilizers and assitance muscles. so basically just stick to the weights for warming them up ... jump ropes are good i suppose but i dont like to mix cardio with strength training/bodybuilding. alot of people do and dont tho so its opinionated.

some light stretching, arm circles and then 3-4 warm up sets all reps 15-30. the warm up sets are just to get the blood in there, don't burn yourself out.
