I know there is alot on here about lower back pain but none of it sounds like what I have.

I did deadlift today and had a good warm up but on my 4th set when I stood streight up not during the pulling part of the lift, I got a sharp pain in the lower right side of my back. I can bend over with little pain but standing streight up is painful. I have done this sort of thing before, but the pain was when I was bending over never when I was just standing up. It is a very tight sharp pain, I am going to stop DL and squats for a while but continue to do bench and arms.

What do you think.

no clue man...just rest up for now but back injuries can take some time to heal. I'd give it 3 weeks and if things still persist then I would go to the doctor.

just rest your lower back and try to massage it with efficascent oil. hyperextend your back or stretch it to loosen the muscle and extent the ligaments.

when someone injures their lower back, the sharp pain can come from over extending backwards as in your case or in bending over, or both. For me it was both but you shouldn't treat it as being any less serious. From my experience let me tell you that a simple massage and a stretch is not enough. What you need is at least a week's rest for you to guage how badly injured it really is. If after a week it's no better then you must seek help from physio. Otherwise if it seems to have gotten a lot better after that week's rest then when you start up again you should take care with your form and the weight that you're using so that you don't put undue emphasis back on your injury. keep us posted on how you're doing...

id still take time off from deads though...if you don't do them already add in some hyperextensions, they seem to help out the lower back a lot
