I just had surgery on a hernia about a week or so ago and I was wandering if anyone has had experience with this. The doctor told me that I wouldnt be able to lift weights for 6-8 weeks which I think is unreal...I will probally go insane not being able to lift for that long. But he did say that I could jog and do moderate cardio. Does this sound right to ya'll? I mean I'm not complaining b/c I am cutting right now but doesnt 6-8 weeks seem to long? I would also like to know if there are any ways to get over the surgery faster and be able to lift in a shorter amout of time. Just curious guys.

I think Guymby (mod here) can help you. I think he's had experience in this area.

I had an inquinal hernia. The surgery wasnt that bad and the doctor made it sound like if I didnt wait and hold off on the weights then I could go a lot of damage. I just want to know what to expect...thanks bros.

ok cool. took me 4 weeks before i started arms. 5 for chest, 6 for back, and about 10 for legs.

i meen, dont do anythign stupid though, you cant go back in and expect to bench 225 like you used to. some exercises will never feel right again to.

make sure to massage the area around your scar, so the scar tissue gets moved out.

Yea I hate the recovery too. But I mean I'm almost 2 weeks into the recovery so what? At most, two more weeks until I can get back into the gym? Half way there. This might give me a chance to catch up on my school work and actually spend time with my girlfriend. Just got to make sure I dont spoil her when I get over this and become a gym rat again.
