Just wanted some input if anyone has had the same problem....here's the story.

I was doing dead lifts about 3 weeks ago(wearing a belt on the heavest set). Going pretty heavy w/ my training partner. As usualy my lower back was sore. The next week about 8-9 days later I do another back workout..but no dead lifts. I was doing Barbell rows pretty heavy (315lbs + using a belt), when I put the weight down my back felt weird. After a bit my lower back started to swell, and it became uncomfortabe to bend over normally. After this happened to took 2 days off. I then continued my workout but keeping in mind not to do things that made my lower back hurt. I was going pretty good, untill i the next week doing legs. I was doing Machine presses and noticed at the end of the heaviest set I tweeked my lower back again. SHIT! Since then I've taken 2 days off, and today I start my workout again. I plan on wearing my weight belt to support my lower back when working out, and taking an anti-inflamitory. Anyone have anyother ideas? I don't want to go see our Docs, because they will say the same shit..."Motrin and water". Gee..thanks Doc.

Thanks for any input.

Taking two days off will not solve a back problem! The back needs rest, and ligament and tendon injuries can take 4 weeks or longer to heal.

You can train around it in the meantime (supported rows, etc) but you really should speak to a sports doctor.

If you play sports it would be more obvious that pain=bad and that you should check things out before continuing. Injuries are not to be taken lightly, no matter how minor. Young and reckless leads to old and painfull!

Thanks for the advise bro. I am working around it and taking it light...it's been about 3 weeks...and it's getting better...but still tender. I'm a Marine, active duty, and they tell us "Pain is weakness leaving the body" hard to break something that is programmed into you. But after injuries it's getting easier to break. I can already tell i'll have problems down the road with knee problems, but it's the price i pay. Thanks again.
