Ok so at my middle school our football season is almost over, so i need something to do in the off season between now and baseball in the spring. I recently found out our football coaches are going to be working with one of the high schools in our area to bring wrestling to the school. I was wondering if anybody here wrestles or knows anything about wresting because this sounds really fun and like someting i would like to do. And also what muscle groups do i need to start working on. Thanks in advance to everybody

What type of wrestling is it? Generally, the hips and pulling muscles are used the most.

Wrestle. It is a great overall workout, and will give you benefits in the other sports as well.

I wouldn't worry about targeting muscle groups. All the wrestling workouts I did hit the entire body. If anything make sure ya have decent cardio to start.

^Cosign, its a full body workout and you definitely need alot of stamina to push through it. Plus, wrestling generally serves as a great base for other types of grappling.

focus on legs, shoulders, neck, ABS. having a strong grip is real important too for wrestling. try to train with higher reps for more muscles stamina. That and start running, alot. You need endurance but a different type of endurance. Do alot of short sprints other then long distance runs. I've wrestled for three years on varsity and there's no better sport then wrestling. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. If you do decide to wrestle good luck have fun.
