Hey dude welcome to the dungeon. So who do you train with? or are you doing this by yourself? And do you have any lifting experience besides just going in the gym and doing everything in sight? lol

Welcome JD.

Here's a little routine to get you started:

Monday - Chest
Tuesday - Back-Abbs
Wednesday - Quads-Hamstrings-Calves
Thursday - Shoulders-Traps
Friday - Biceps-Triceps-Abbs
Saturday - Rest
Sunday - Rest

Make sure you get plenty of sleep every night since that's when your muscles will be doing most of it's growth. Drink plenty of water, keep a clean healthy diet and your good to go brotha.

Ok the first thing im still trying to figure out myself, so im no help there, sorry.

As for the rest of the day, EATT, u need to be eating at least 6 meals a day.

You should be at the gym for about an hour, too much longer and you will end up overtraining.

Sleep: about 7-8 hours is how much i get a night and i am perfect in the morning to go to the gym. If you dont get enough sleep you could also end up overtraining. Sleep is also the time when you muslces grow the most, so the more sleep the better.

My routine is as follows:

Monday- Chest
Tuesday- Shoulders, light arms
Wednesday- Off
Thursday- Back/traps
Friday- Legs
Saturday- Arms

1) Depends, I usually do between 3-6 sets of each exercise. It all depends on how I feel that day. If i power through 3 solid sets(I usually do 3 sets x 10 reps), Ill keep upping the weight and go something like 10, 8, 6 reps. after the first 3 sets of 10. I try to mix things up in the gym, such as different Bicept/Triceps exercises. Do what feels good to you and what gives you that "pump" we all love

2) Rest about 8 hours at night, as Knight said.

3) After the gym, give your body time to relax. Protein and creatine work wonders. Maybe get some Glutamine to help muscle recovery.

4) The time your there depends on what your doing and how many different exercises/sets. I am usually at my gym for a solid 1.5-hour n 45 hours on big muscle groups(chest, legs, back) and for arms/shoulders usually hour.

Also, Post what supplements your using, if any, such as Preworkout drinks, and Post workout protein/creatine. I highly recommend USPlabs Jacked for preworkout, and a protein Isolate and Creatine Mono for post.

Goodluck and keep us posted.

Oh another thing, make sure you drink lots of water, especially if you are taking creatine. A gallon a day should be good, thats about how much i drink, if not more.

JD,

welcome to the site - you are very smart to ask advice - body-building is a beautiful sport which will stay with you for many years to come. What is important is to start well.

The advice given above is great and you will find many other gold nuggets in this forum, but what is most important if you just start is someone who really shows you the movements, how to breath, how to train safely and to get to know your limits, likes/dislikes.

Next time you go to your gym (and it is not too crowded) you may want to ask the owner or whoever is in the gym to help you with getting introduced to the gym. If they are serious about the sport they will help you and probably even create a starter scheme for you.

Keep in mind - you are still young and your body is still under a lot of development so do not lift heavy, rather learn how to lift correctly. Your muscles will develop much better.

one more thing - no need to take any supplements - just eat more than you normally eat and try to eat more meat than you normally do.

(one hour should be the max time you are in the gym!)
