Spooner Vents

Im pretty pissed off right now. im at school today and i get in a little squabble with some friends of mine in shop class. they know i love to go to the gym and workout, and i dont go out and party very much, if at all. so apparently im a loser because of it. now i could easily lose my cool and pick one of these kids up and snap them in half like a twig, but instead i try to talk some sense since they are my friends, but they really ticked me off. they say all i do is work and go to the gym and that im a no life loser because of it? what the ****? all they do is drink and smoke dope and party like every other kid and their the cool ones? and im the loser cause i chose to stay away from that and workout instead? i dont get it. the ones who should be considered losers are the heros, and the ones who are doing something with their lives and choosing to stay out of that lifestyle are the kids who arent cool. and one of them even asks me what the point of working out is. whats the point of trashing your body with all those drugs and alcohol? i workout to stay in shape and to be able to look in the mirror and have a bit of self confidence without having to smoke myself silly to get it. i guess its alot easier to go and start doing drugs to be cool then it is to get your ass into the gym for a workout. every one of my friends i grew up with chose that route in life. i almost fell into it but i crawled out of that hole and dug my own and im perfectly content to staying in it. anyone whos never worked out knows nothing about our lifestyle, what it takes and the discipline it takes to get where we are. we have goals set in our lives which is something many of these kids will never have. i have a goal to make a junior team (hockey) around here, but im a loser because the kids on that team are "preps" and cant smoke dope any good so if i make the team i get labelled as a "prep". do i care? **** no. call me a prep all you want im doing something with my life then wasting it away at parties with a bottle. the same kids who say that are the ones that have never made a team in their life or set any goals for themselves and are the same ones who will bum around in this town forever. i just dont understand why i get called a loser because i choose to workout instead of drink and smoke drugs. teenagers these days are mysterious creatures. im sure another kid out there like me has been razzed by his friends like this. i know what your sayin. just get new friends. i wish it were that easy. every kid who i grew up with is a drug addict or has fried his brain to nothing. hardly anyone works out at my school im the only one pretty much. ill just wait out highschool and get into the real world and do something with my life while these "friends" of mine can stay back and talk about how they used to be friends with Mr.Olympia when he was in highschool haha

sorry to vent boys but i dont know who else to tell but other people who share the same passion for the gym i do. well i feel better getting that out. thankyou for reading.

Thanks for venting to us.. It has happened to just about everyone in the dungeon or will happen.. The veterans know exactly what your talking about.. Stick to your guns and keep a level head.. Or walk away..

nice job handling the situation, its sucks to have your friends put you down, but really , not much of a friend are they, its good you vented here, we have your back bro, my son played hockey all through his senior year in high school, good for you wanting to make that junior team, like you said, just look back at the loosers and smile, just know on the inside who`s the man!! Mr. future O.. hell yea!!

thanks guys. i mean i really like these guys their good guys but they talk about partying like thats all highschool is about, i mean thats fine but there is so much more to it. when they look back on their highschool career i hope they see what i mean and see where it got them in life.

all depends on their priorities bro, some people just dont grow up and get anything but a swift biatch slap along side the head, you have the right mind set, and having so you`ll excel at a faster pace, just keep in mind what your doing is the right thing for you, if there your friends they will support you in the long run, right now its just that age group that makes the partying cool, props for doing the right thing spooner!

You're absolutely correct saying that partying is what the average teenager cares about, it's sad but true. I've been in the same position, but if you look at each of those kids' life and how "happy" they seem to be, in most cases they're the exact opposite. Sometimes their parents are the primary precedent for what they do, sometimes they were influenced by friends, and sometimes it's a crutch for depression. Whatever it is, it's laughable and sad!

I'd say try to find friends who are interested in the same things you are, but I understand that's easier said than done. But what you can do, is sit around and let the right people come to you, because otherwise you'll drive yourself ruthless with curiosity. Don't talk about bb unless someone makes an inquisition or jokes about it, it's your own life bro.

It's school buddy, it's full of drama and **** talking. It gets easier as you go through life, you tend to know who to keep close and who to loosen your ties with.

Ya you have a good mentality. I didn't have it that rough in highschool but I completely understand how you feel about the people doing the wrong thing are the "cool" ones. I was friends with a lot of different people becasue I was a jock but also took the hardest/nerdiest classes (Latin IV anyone lol).

It always pissed me off that a lot fo my friends ALWAYS were doin the wrong thin and in trouble with parents/teachers/law/coches etc and doing drugs and they were "popular" and cool. While I was doing the right thing (I did drink some my senior year admittedly) that I or anyone really got snubbed for doing the right thing.

However, stick to your guns as it seems you are and get a few friends that will be more positive impacts. You don't have to give up your old ones though I always hated being told to drop friends, they are still your friends and YOU are their good influence. I found that in college those people fell off slowly and now a lot of those "cool kids" couldn't make it once out of highschool. So you really do win in the end.

What you do in life matters and you will always be repayed in full for doing the rigth thing.

Who cares bro? All my friends do it smoke and drink if you're doing something against the group it's always unpopular, unpopular meaning that people don't like it. Moderation is the key. They smoke and drink cuz it's fun and you work out cuz it's fun (in it's own way) and girls like it.

I'm in the same situation. My friends seem to be nicer though haha. I hung out with the same group of stoners since 4th grade (given they weren't stoned then). Now they all are and I have to get a balance. I hang out with them and party but I hang out with my "prep" friends too. All these crazy high school labels man, that ****'s ridiculous, like the person for the people not the labels.

We're in the same boat.

You really do make a lot of new friends on sports teams too. A LOT. So you'll have some friends that don't party then.
