NO!!!!!

I promise you, at 14 there is no need to even look into Creatine. Not even look into it! I didnt do my first bit of creatine until i was 18 and ive been bigger than most since i was growing up! You honestly DO NOT need it!

At 14, you want to concentrate at eating well..eat lots of protein with good fats and Carbohydrates are a must! More importantly though.. DO NOT get fixated on bodybuilding... you are still growing, doing loadsa weights will only stunt your growth, and you only grow upwards once! Concentrate more on keeping fit and healthy, doing the occasional bit of weights work in the gym and eat well!

Eating and keeping fit will improve your strenth i promise you! But fixating yourself at this point in your life to a sport that will not take you very far in the next few years.. you will gain more weight AND muscle simply naturally.. may alienate you from others and doing other stuff that guys growing up are meant to do! Please trust me on this one!

Just trying to help..

Sorry.. to finish..

If you MUST look into supplements (not that i think its a good idea until your 15 and a half) there is nothing wrong with Holland and Barrett.. when you first take protein shakes your body will be completely unused to this massive abundance of protein and good amino's in one intake and so will love it regardless of whether it is good quality or not! Admittidly H&B Body Fortress Whey is not the best.. it is cheap (im guessin you dont have vast amounts of cash at 14!! I certainly didnt!) though and simple! Very good starting point to just get used to taking shakes and they will work!

By the way, please do not think i am speaking down to you in any way, shape or form.. i completly respect your admiration for BB and desire to get into it.. i just thing you might waste and awful lot of money and more importantly precious time (school is seriously awesome and growing up is only done once!!) by getting really involved.. Again, like i said before.. im just trying to help! You dont need to listen to my advice!

Im gonna have to dis-agree with some of the stuff your saying here.

1. Lifting doesnt stunt growth, I posted about this a while back and will re-post it tomorrow when I have enough energy to find it.

2. Holland and barret would be fine for fish oils, multi vit but not whey or creatine. Its pretty expensive there if you look at the amount your getting (protein and servings), and tastes horrible. You can find stuff much cheaper online. (unless thats an issue)

Found it,

Quote:
The epiphyseal (growth) plates are responsible for growth in children and adolescents. Although injury to the epiphyseal plates may cause bone deformity, the risk that this will occur with weight training is no greater than it is with most sports. As for the risk that weight training will stunt growth, premature closing of the epiphyseal plates is related primarily to hormonal influences, not injury. And even if it was, weight training is incredibly safe compared to other sports. Russian sports scientist Vladimir Zatsiorsky in his book Science and Practice of Strength Training had this to say about the dangers of weight training: “The risk of injury from a well-coached strength training program has been estimated to be about one per 10,000 athlete-exposures,” with an athlete-exposure being defined as one athlete taking part in one training session or competition. “Compared to tackle football, alpine skiing, baseball pitching, and even sprint running, strength training is almost free of risk.”

Many studies have measured the rate of injuries associated with weight training compared with the rate in other sports. For example, a study published in the November/December 2001 issue of the Journal of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons cited research showing that in children ages 5 to 14 years, the number of injuries from bicycling was almost 400 percent greater than the number of injuries from weightlifting.

So not only is weight lifting extremly safe, it is also less stress on your joints than most daily activities (thus decreasing the chance of injury). Activities such as running and jumping create forces on the body that are six to eight times one's body weight. The compression forces on his legs and spine are far greater in running and jumping than they will ever be in squatting or pressing over head.

Many strength coaches at major universities throughout the nation have been asked when athletes should start weight training. The vast majority responded, “In junior high.” The Eastern Bloc countries start weight training with their athletes at age 12. In addition, we know that weight training is one of the best ways to build self-confidence and self-esteem. A 7th grader can receive just as much satisfaction by going from 85 to 100 pounds on the bench press as a 12th grader can by going from 285 to 300 pounds. Of course, we believe that strict supervision and teaching proper technique is essential.

I see your shout.. but i would disagree straight back at you :P

At 14, there is no possible way to expect your body to be fully developed.. tendons/muscles/even bones are all not fully grown, let alone at their full strength, this is why guys tend to put on most of their weight from about 17 onwards.. i would disagree that a kid should be smashing it up in the gym at such a young age.. i appreciate your post, and give it value but this is all ive ever been told by people in the sporting or even fitness industry and you'll certainly not change my mind :P

Holland and Barett - they constantly have huge sales on many of their products (i never said it was good quality btw) and i just see it as an easy, beginners way on getting into supplements (including fish oils/multis).. of course you will find better deals on the internet however much of this is prone to advertising corruptency (im not implying all are in any way, i use the internet!) and the choice might simply mind-boggle a young teenager who ends up buying an expensive tub of crap just because it has "guarenteed to put on 40lbs of muscle" or has a pic of a BB on it.. you see my drift? I used H&B and made some great gains.. yes it tastes like **** but i didnt drink it for it to taste good.. isn't that what Guiness and Beer is for???

Just giving some advice.. i do like the report you quoted though.. is that part of it or the full thing? Would be good to read up on..
