I microwave mine in milk or soy milk with raisins and pecans or walnuts.

Also a pinch of large-grain organic cane sugar makes a huge taste difference. But I doubt that's what a bodybuilder means by 'the right way'.

The healthiest way would be to buy the large flake kind and slow cooking it over the stove. You can get away with cooking it quickly too.

But processed instant oatmeals are pretty useless as far as keeping you full and having any nutritional benefits.

I cook my Old Fashioned Oats in water for 3 minutes and then add some Orange Sunrise Crystal Light and some extra water (I like my oatmeal soupy). I never would have thought it would be good before I tried it but now I eat it every morning.

My wife is from Puerto Rico and cooks my oats with milk and vanilla extract (just on the weekend)
Through the week oats, water, splenda & cinnamion. I like to let sit for about 10min to cool off and eat luke-warm. I just can't eat hot oatmeal.

If it says "quick oats" or "instant oatmeal", its nice and easy, but you miss the benefits of a low glycemic index carb. If it cooks that quickly, you'll digest it quickly too. Get steel-cut or large flake oats, they take longer to cook, but they fill you up all morning. I nuke mine for about 7 minutes in the microwave. Throw them in before you shower, that way they've cooled down in time.
