Since i started using dextrose after my workout, i feel like **** until i eat. Anybody knows why? Should i quit using dextrose? Is it possible to get a diabete??

What do you mean feel like ****. Do you mean tired?

Diabetes is caused by spiking your insulin multiple times throught the day. Thus, your PWO shake isn't going to cause it.

You also have protein in your PWO meal I pressume? And you should eat like an hour after the shake so you'll survive!

My PWO shake contains 25 grams of whey protein , 5 grams of glutamine and 50 grams of dextrose. When i say "****" i mean i feel VERY tired, like i im not in the mood for anything, and generally i feel like im in a very bad mood and i feel like i want to eat something salty. As soon as i eat my dinner after a couple of hours i feel ok. What do you guys suggest em to do? I friend told me that its dangerous to get i diabete and he ****ing scared me

You want to move that meal to roughly one hour after you workout. You also want to get simple carbs along with your protein shake. then when you eat a solid meal one hour after workout you will want to consume chicken and some type of complex carb.

Here is my opinion....So here you are, you just worked out and your body is using about 80% of its energy supplies to rid muscle waste and restore you basic energy supplies in you body. That leave you with 20%. Now...Since you are putting all this dextrose in, that take the other 20% of your energy to the digestion track. So now...you have nothing left, your body is in 100% recovery mode...and hence you feel tired and ****ty. Take your protein and glutamine...wait abotu 40 mins and take your dextrose...try that, it should help

You should be adding sodium to your PWO shake in the first place.

Whey + Dextrose + Maltodextrin + Sodium

Then during your shake, take your creatine, glutamine, and any antioxidants.

Tell your friend that diabetes is caused by heredity and poor eating habits. After you workout your cortisol levels are very high, as opposed to your insulin levels, thus you need the spike to keep the cortisol down. The insulin spike you get PWO is a necessity.

One more thing I'd like to add.

If you are drinking your entire shake all at once, slow down. Try to drink about half in a total of 15 minutes, then sip the rest over the next 45 minutes. You should not be finished with it until 45-60 minutes are up.

agreed...pounding down protein shakes is a terrible idea..

yea no matter what it has in it, whether u do it perfect, it still won't digest right if u down and let it crash into ur stomach 90 miles an hour into a brick wall..

and don't get me wrong, i do it too...sometimes i just want to get that mother****er down..lol..i'm the same way with food sometimes..where i just don't want to eat, and the only way its going to happen is if i shovel it in..

but more often then not, i do it the right way and i'll take about a half an hour to sip on my protein shakes..

Thank you guys for all your help i really apreciate it! Ill mix some maltodextrine and sodium at my PWO shake and drink it slowly. and i hope i wont feel like i want to suicide again

I started this thread at one point. I was getting headaches and feeling like crap from not drinking my PWO shake w/ Maltodextrin in it. Some of the info may be redundant but......

Maltodextrin/Dextrose Post Workout drink
