Ok guys to make a long story short....
I am in the marine corps, and i am over my weight limit. Since joining ive lost a lot of muscle mass and gained a bit of fat. I used to bodybuild before i joined, and when i joined i was 215 lbs with about 7% bf, now i am 235lbs with about 26% of course this is using a very inaccurate method, that takes the ratio of your neck to your waste, i was blessed with a tiny neck. I am gonna start bodybuilding again, but i cant eat to gain muscle like i used to, because if i dont loose weight quick, i am gonna get demoted. so i know the general nutrition rules about ratios of proteins and carbs to bodyweight but my question is do i use my current wieght, or the wieght that i need to get to as my basis. I would also appreciate any tips on cutting fat quickly as well as supplements.

Thanks in advance,

Jerrdogg

well i need to loose about 4-5%bf, i will never be under the weight limit for my height, when i graduated basic, i was still 15lbs over weight, but i was all skin and bones. i have approx 2 months to loose probably 15-20 lbs, maybe 3 months, but i would like to do it asap, cause i am close to getting promoted, but i cant as long as im over weight. I know it doesnt seem like it would be that hard, but i dont want to starve myself, cause i did that before to loose 130 pounds, dorpped down to 175 and spent 3 hard years in the gym to get to 215, so i dont want to loose as much muscle as possible, cause on the flip side i am also evaluated on a physical fitness test.

Any idea how many calories you are consuming (daily) at the present? In order to lose about 1 pound per week you should drop your daily caloric intake by about(roughly) 250-500 calories.(depending upon how your body responds) Of course you should keep your protein high in order to maintain muscle mass. In addition, I would be sure to supplement with Glutamine to preserve mass and also be sure to include healthy fats in your diet(almonds, Natural PB, Flax Oil). Be sure your carbs are complex/slow burning since you will be reducing your total caloric intake. How often are you doing cardio? In my opinion, cardio will play a large role in you reaching your goal.

Help Jerrdog out guys!

ill be doing cardio 2x a day, right now i am only doing it once cause the holiday bs, but after this weekend i am gonna start 2x a day, i plan to do cardio from 0545-0700, and 1100-1230, then hit the gym after work for a couple hours. i am not sure about my calories right now as i havnt been using my journal, but i also havnt been eating that much but maybe 1x a day to counteract my lack of cardio lol, i know its just slowing my metabolism down. Ive got a lot of bs in my life right now, the stress from being a marine, and the fact that my wife left me with the 2 dogs, and some financial problems, so i havnt been able to get serious, but hey its almost a new year, im getting rid of the dogs, got my financial problems taken care of and came to the mindset of screw my wife.

on another note, ill be taking off to go home for the new years and visit family so i probably wont be able to reply till sunday, but please keep posting, as i will answer everything when i get back.

I just dropped 70 pounds and the way I did it was pumping iron three times a week cardio was once a day 5-6 times a week for 30 minutes on a inclined treadmill.I ate 4 small meals and 2 protein shakes everyday consisting of mainly protein around 300 grams a day carbohydrates were kept very low only ate it(oatmeal, brown rice, sweet potato)morning and post workout.Supplements I took were Udo's Oil two tablespoons a day, flax seed meal, fish oil, protein shake, greens plus(vit+min)and I took an excellent product by ALRI called Hotter for increasing test levels and lowering estrogen which helped burn fat even faster. If you have any questions Jerrdogg feel free to ask me bro I'd be more then happy to help you out.Hope the new year brings better things for you as I too have been through hell the past several years and am looking forward to the new year myself.TC!

well if it's that serious you should talk to a local nutritionist, they can set up a good diet/exercise regimen for you

i wouldn't depend on what some of these people have to say, they're usually wrong

then post at another website if you don't like it here. everyones body is different and all we can do is say what worked for us. just b/c someone says something that doesnt work for you does not mean they are wrong....

anyways...for me I like to cycle carbs. atleast with me my body is very sensative to carbs. for example I will be cutting pretty soon here and it will look something like this.

day 1 - 400-450g of carbs
day 2 - 300g of carbs
day 3 - 200g of carbs
day 4 - 100g
day 5 - 100g
day 6 - 50g
day 7 - less than 10g
repeat

this works really well for me. but like I said my body is so sensative with carbs that I don't even need to do cardio with this plan.

Yes deisel has a great post bro. as for losing weight fast. only eat wheat sources for carbs, STAY AWAY FROM STARCHES! Do u have the opportunity to do cardio in the morning b4 breakfast if so do this. the more cardio u do on an empty stomach the more your body uses fat for energy. but get a good meal in after the cardio so u dont loose muscle. id say high protein around 40 g carbs from a wheat source. also avoid fruit. if u enjoy fruit only eat it once or twice a day.(meaning one or two peices and not anytime near your workout before or after) Finally dont spike your glucose level(Sugar will do this, fructose, sucrose, ECT. will all do that) every time your glucose spikes your body stores fat.

The reason i say deisels post is a really good idea is bc cycling carbs will help u loose weight in a somewhat atkins diet way, but at the same time u wont become even more carb sensative than u already are.

Good luck with it bro, and feel very free to ask more questions. Dont listin to the one person on the board that says were all crazy, bc we all seem to be helping eachother out, and it seems to be working pretty good.

BBD RULES BEOTCH!!!! BRUSH DEM HATERS OFF!!!
