LIke I know a good whey protein shake mixed with dextrose is PWO.....but could I use a few tablespoons of real honey instead of dextrose??? or is the dextrose powder better. Also, before bed I usually have a 6 oz Chicken breast with brocolli for my last meal....or would a casin SHake be better for better gains.....???? Is real food better than manufactured supplements???? whats your opinion.... All my other meals are real food and clean!

Dextrose is much better than honey PWO. Reason is, honey contains table sugar which is not nearly as fast in the digesting department. Before bed it's important to get casien (the slowest digesting protein), whether it be from low fat cottage cheese or from a casien shake (either is fine).

For your question on whether foods are better than supplements, CWUTrainer made a great post on this in the VIP section.

Yet, the 50/50 mix up is great...maybe try to get it to like 60/40 with 60 being whole foods and the 40 being shakes and bars. One quick thing...always take a shake post workout! Not a meal...Don't eat that meal for about an hour after you work out. Your body needs it blood supply to replenish glycogen stores...not digest your food, hence the shake. Fast protein absorbtion...low digestion requirements.. I hope this helped. Merry Christmas

One More thing...In terms of growth....Whey is going to be more benficial...As its biologicla value (or the actual amount of protien digested that is used for muscle repair and growth is higher, not much higher but nonetheless higher) However, don't stop eating whole foods...your body needs both sources to grow...Grow...GROW!

Real food is better.............but, I love my supps. I find I am a lot stricter with what I eat if 2-3 meals a day are supps. Making 3-4 whole food meals a day is a lot easier than 6, and faster. Having a ready supply of shakes/bars on hands also helps me not get lazy..like if Im in a rush, I can just grab an RTD from the fridge and drink that, instead of a less ideal choice. My body responds very well to shakes though, while Banshee responds better to whole food. All the phyto-chemicals and alkaloids in whole food must still be gotten from somewhere though. Ifyou do have a supp heavy diet, be sure to include lots of fruit and vegetables in your whole food meals. Good Luck!

Just stick with whole foods, and let's say if you don't have time, then a MRP is ok. But always remember that you diet should consist of whole foods.
