How come creatine doesnt like to mix so easy as whey protein does? I am using precision engineered creatine that I bought from Vitamin World. I actually bought and and got one for free. 400 servings per container for about $8. If I put it in my protein shake I dont have to worry about keeping it mixed but if I put it in tea I find that when I stop to take a breath I gotta keep mixing it because it wants to accumulate and fall to the bottom. This really sucks!! But I deal with it. Do you guys to do the same thing?

why do you mix it with tea? I mix mine with water or grape juice. It could just be the brand you got too, b/c mine mixes easily.

What is the difference whether creatine is mixed with tea or grape juice. Both have sugar. What does grape juice have that tea doesnt have?

The creatine that I have tends to want to settle on the bottom if you dont keep it mixed. It also turns the tea into a lighter color. Tea is what I use when I am at work. If I use cold water it will have a grainy taste. Tea at least has some taste.

I am wonder if I should use another creatine and see if it is any different from what I got. I just wondered if creatine normally settles to the bottom after it is mixed or not.

Ofcourse it is necessary to take creatine while consuming simple carbs. Although on off days it is recommended that you take 5 grams in the morning or with your highest GI carb meal.

First off, you don't "have" to take it with anything, you just take it with what works best. For example, if you're on an off day obviously you're not going to consume dextrose by itself so simply take it with your first meal. Glutamine works well during certain times, post sleep, pre workout, post workout, and pre sleep. I'm sure we have many past threads up on this.

To the original poster, I would recommend simply spooning down the creatine rather than trying to mix it with a liquid.

Grape juice unless you plan on consuming dextrose for some odd reason.

You're right, but I would not spike my insulin any other time than post workout. Just spoon the 5 grams down with water on off days.

I wonder about taking creatine by spoon instead of mixing it with liquid. I may try it and see what happens. I hope I dont choke on it lol.

I also wonder, how in the world is each companies creatine different if it is monohydrate by itself. Could it be the way it is cut in powder form? I also saw some creatine capsules but I dont remember what brand that was. Probably not as good though as the powder form.

Well, I will try taking powder by spoon. If that doesnt work Ill mix it with honey. If that doesnt work then I will go back to mixing it with liquid. I just have to keep mixing it so it doesnt begin to accumulate and gently fall to the bottom.

I just took a look at my creatine. It is hplc creatine. I dont know what that is supposed to mean though that it is made for precision engineering which is probably the label for vitamin world stores.

Grape juice, sports drinks, water... Simply what is best to mix with Creatine Monohydrate to get its full effect?

Any fast-acting carbohydrate source is the ideal choice, but almost any carbohydrate substance is a substantial step up from water. Why? Well, let's get some science out of the way first. Basically, improving the transport of creatine monohydrate to its ultimate destination, the muscle cells, is dependent on the availability of insulin in the bloodstream. Insulin is released when the body senses large amounts of glucose (the broken-down form of carbohydrates) in the blood. It is then the job of insulin to transport the glucose into cells. But here's the fun part - insulin doesn't just take the glucose; it drives protein, fats, and other substances into the cells as well. And this includes creatine.
Since it's the presence of glucose that stimulates the insulin, you'll need carbohydrates mixed with your creatine. With many of GNC's creatine products, this is already included. But with plain-old creatine monohydrate powder, you want to use the fastest acting carbohydrate source - the one that will release the most insulin. The best is probably grape juice, followed by orange juice (grapefruit and apple juice are a little slow). Basically, look for anything with a high simple sugar content, which includes sports drinks. And remember that a lot of fat and protein may slow down the insulin response to an extent. So if you're taking creatine post-workout, take it immediately with carbohydrates and wait 45-60 minutes before eating a large, protein-rich meal.
