Yeah basically, there really is no reason to spike your insulin levels at any other time of the day.

So getting some sugar after workout is good? And as workout you mean cardio and lifting or just lifting?

You have a "window of opportunity" about 90 minutes post workout where your muscles will soak up nutrients like a sponge. The theory behind taking dextrose or any other simple sugar is to take advantage of this. Your glycogen (complex sugar stored in muscle and liver) is low post workout, especially in the muscle(s) you have just trained. The dextrose helps recovery and raises insulin which is the hormone responsible for removing sugar from the bloodstream. It makes cells receptive to receiving sugar. In theory this helps recovery, strength for the next workout and helps give your muscle a fuller appearance. It is often combined with creatine to help the cratine be absorbed more effectively. Make sense?

Spoon down 10 grams of creatine monohydrate while taking your PWO shake that includes dextrose. Good post JDF.

I have yet to do a cycle with creatine but my brother did and his 1st time he got great results from it.

But ya Imraan dextrose PWO with some protein is what I do.

I put in about 40g of protein and 45g of dextrose into water and drink it post workout. Kinda makes you feel a little less drained also.
