Calcium is neccessary for strength. It plays a vital role in muscle contraction. (Basically, if you had no Ca+ in your body, your bones would all break and your muscles couldn't contract). Will supplementing with it make you stronger?Only if you have a deficiency. Most people do not get even the RDA for Calcium, and athletes need even more, so it would be logical to assume the majority of people are somewhat deficient. It is better to get Calcium through diet rather than supplementation. Good sources include dairy products, broccoli, bok choy, spinach, kale, almond, even fruit. hope this helps. |
