What I meant is it takes a complete protein to build a muscle, a BCAA supplement is not a complete protein, so it as a protein source alone, it cant build a muscle. BCAAs can be taken when bulking or maintaining, but should be seen as a calorie source. Seems like an expensive source of cals. JMO. When cutting though they are a very useful addition. People who "mega dose" then while cutting lose no muscle and actually make muscle gains. So even thhough they consider themselves to be on a cal defecit while cutting, they arent because BCAA's are 4 cals/gram, so I dont know why they claim to be on a cal defecit, when they arent counting the cals from the BCAA's. Excessive protein is even useful for muscle hypertrophy when cutting. :) IOWs, BCAAs are most useful when cutting fat and not losing muscle.
