i apologize for my ignorance, but it seems all ive heard about carbs is that i shouldnt eat them after 6 at night. other than that, when should i eat them? we dont have much food in our house, but the one thing we do have is a shitload of pasta. so i eat a huge plate or two of pasta for dinner, saving some for a little breakfast in the morning. im doing it all wrong arent I.

when i cut .. i cut down my carbs intake .. i just eat carbs from viggies .. but when you bulk .. you need carbs .. at least in all your meals except the last meal before bed time when your metabolism is low and your body tends to convert carbs to bodyfat .. carbs are important when you bulk .. even if you try to get cut don't drop it too much your muscle need glycogen in order to prevent itself from breakdown

Unless you are cutting for very low body fat carbs at night are not a problem. While insulin efficiency is reduced in the evening complex fibrous carbs are no problem at all.

ok cool. so i guess im doing ok. i think i might be a little over the amount of carbs i need daily, but i need to eat something. im always hungry as it is, and my bodyweight is staying roughly the same. i think im at the end of my cutting phase, as i have enough definition. i can see the muscles and tendons when i lift. thanks for the help.

If you cant get enough enough protein during the day for whatever reason, it is always a good idea to make sure you are consuming enough carbs to fuel your daily needs so no protein gets used as fuel. Pasta is a great second postworkout meal (first meal immediately after should be high protein and simple sugar). If you add a little olive oil or flaxseed oil to the pasta, it will also slow the digestion and help reduce the insulin spike. If you are on a serious budget, nonfat drymilk has a lot of protein for relatively cheap. Nutrition is best when it is viewed as guidelines to apply to your life. Dont thin about it in terms of right or wrong, try to do the best you can with what you have! Good luck!
