Just wondering whether or not i should be taking a drink pre workout meal or shake. I read different opinions all the time. Also how about sipping a shake throughout a workout???

Cheers, insano

2 -3 hour before .. complex carbs ( oatmeal - brown rice - potato ) and solid protain
1 hour perior .. dextrose or glucose whith scoop of whey .. or if you don't have dextrose .. piece of fruit like a banana would be fine

just be careful of taking in too much dextrose or carbs before weightlifting because that can just cause a rise in insulin levels and cause more bf levels instead of muscle building.

Why not just drink a protein shake in low fat milk 30 min pre workout? Drink about a serving of it with some whey protein. Gives you a decent amount of carbs and slow burning protein, plus your whey.

Oatmeal I would also say consume about 30 min pre workout.

Hmm what about just drinking a protein shake in milk w/ a banana? Could you consume that 30min before or would you have to do it sooner?

I do drink a protein shake before my workout. I was just wondering about oatmeal because the carbs give you an enery boost!!!
