Guys,

I will be starting Accutane on Monday. I am trying to come up with a regime that will
a) protect my liver (I take excedrin and clonezepam for Headaches)
b)Avoid getting sick during the winter when I am always sick (2 kids in daycare)
c) Start and maintain a light weights/cardio routine at least 5 days a week
d) Lower cholesterol

The surprise to me was my bloodwork came back with my cholesterol being around 220/ldl is a little high and Im not even on Accutane yet.

I take fish oils but I have read some contain Vitamin A which is a big No No on the tane.

Due to the Vitamin A issue, I cannot take multi's.

So far on my list is Bulk Nutrition pro liver (Milk Thistle/NAC) Can I stay on thise long term?

Sesamin.

I also have a bottle of Dry Vitamin D3 (400 iu) that I might as well use. I have decent whey protein from TP, not the cheap stuff but I have to take easy with that as well (cholesterol). I do not plan on heavy heavy weights until the new year however Whey has many benefits in additon to muscle building.

So I obviously need to address this cholesterol and stay healthy without going near Vitamin A. Can you guys help?

Udo's ultimate oil blend - everything
Cardio in the style of HIIT
Milk thistle or Liv52 - liver protection

Hey man, I can't answer all of your questions, but I'll do my best. As far as taking a multi-vitamin while on Isotretinoin, you should be fine. Yes, Isotretinoin contains large amounts of Vitamin A, but an extra 100-200% DV should have no effect. However, check with your dermatologist. When I was prescribed Isotretinoin, my dermatologist said it would be just fine to take a multi vitamin containing as much as 200% DV of Vitamin A. Check with your dermatologist, as he/she would know your body best as well as other factors concerning your health (blood work, etc.). Continue to take fish oil as it is known to help lower cholesterol in many individuals. Also, whole grains (which you should be eating, high cholesterol or not) has been shown to lower cholesterol as well. Talk with your primary care physician to see what other steps you can take to help maintain or lower cholesterol, possibly introducing another medication. Hope this somewhat helps, but a professional would know best, much more than someone typing away on their computer.

How about we try this from a nutrition standpoint instead of a supplement and drug standpoint?

What does your diet look like?

Actually, I am now considering putting off the accutane until I get the other things in order. I thought my diet was better but obviously its not. Time to up the green veggies and oats in the morning. I still may do sesamin and fish oils but that may be it for now.

Depends on how heavy you are, but once you start losing weight your CH should also Decrease. You have to clean up your diet. Decrease red meat. I use fish when dropping weight. It helps out a lot.
Good Luck man
