you probably thing - what the *** is this about, but if you think about it, eating chewing gum starts the creation of enzyms in your mouth which help with breaking down foods in your gastric tract. Moreover eating chewing gum prepares your body for food to come. Last but not least gum is very low in calories (mainly from artificial sources of sugar).

So here is the question- does consumption of chewing help/hinder cutting?

opinions welcome

I am pretty sure it won't matter at all. Even if the 1 gram of carbohydrate in the form of sugar alcohol is digested from the gum, no one could tell a 4 calorie difference throughout their week. I myself chew sugarless gum between meals as it allows me to go longer without food.

we are in sync on that chewing gum in calorie neutral; however you have noticed that chewing gum decreases your appetite; for me it increases my appetite. interesting.

I chew the hell out of gum during the day. At least a half a pack usually. Main reason is I like to clean my mouth after everytime I eat something. It makes me feel refreshed. I stick with the sugar free for sure. Orbit or wrigley 5.

i don't think it increases or decreases appetite. It just keeps your mind off food for a few and good for cleaning your teeth after meals if you cant brush your teeth of course like mentioned above.

Doesn't matter that much to me, either. Fresh breath is always nice for the ladies.

Speaking of breath--if you ever do a keto diet, some kind of mints or gum are kind of a necessary thing.

Makes sense--you swallow air when you chew gum. In that case, the chemical warfare would offset the benefits of minty breath.

The sugar alcohol and "less than one carb" supposedly will throw you out of ketosis if you are doing a keto diet.

Dave Palumbo tells me not to chew more than 2 pieces of sugarless gum a day.
People say that chewing sugarless gum(similar to drinking diet sodas) that it can increase your cravings for sweets because your stomach prepares for something sweet(because of artificial sweetner) and then it doesnt get it.

At work I chew gum and that is about it. I work in on an ambulance so it helps keep me from stopping at a store and grabbing some thing sweet. Plus getting up in the middle of the night for a call, got to have fresh breath.

Dave Palumbo does say to limit your gum intake, but i have heard that sugar alcohol is only .6-- carbs so if you are low in carbs it really should not be that bad. I think

I go with Trident Cinnamon sugarfree, it does not contain Phenylalanine like most all other sugar free gums and diet sodas aswell.
