Anyone use Met-RX protein plus and get good results? Layne Norton recommended it in one of his blogs but i was just curious what you guys think of it.

O and i used to mix my protein powder with milk, but am now using watermelon for faster absorption. is this a good idea?

Yes mixing it with milk would take longer to absorb. I've never tried Met-rx plus though.

I know that Layne is like a great dude, and has awesome advice and everything, but the way i always looked at protien bars is just glorified candy bars. I only will eat them in a very tight pinch, aka either get a protien bar or eat like potatoe salad and hot dogs. And i may have read this wrong but your mixing your protien powder with watermellon?

Yes layne does give really beneficial advice..and MET-RX proteion plus isnt a protein bar, its a shake, which is optimal for working out because of all the BCAAs and quick digestive protein it has in it. and ya im starting to mix my protein powder with watermelon which is my post workout shake

I've used Met-Rx products off and on for years, since Scott Connely first developed and marketed it. Both Bill Phillips and Jeff Everson plugged it for years as well, till thry got better offers. It's a great product and not as expensive as some of the other 'tech' products.

Met-RX is one of the top producers in supplements industry - nothing wrong with using them. In reality differences between proteins are mainly in the ingredients used, whey vs casein vs soy.

Whey is considered best with highest biological value and fastest absorption rate. Within Whey protein the highest quality is Isolate (vs concentrate).

If you want an alternative to Met-RX you may also want to try Optimum Nutrition - they sell their Gold Standard (almost pure Isolate) in large 10lbs packing for reasonable price.

Im taking the Met-rx protein plus shake right now, the chocolate is probably the worst tasting protein powder i had ever tasted and you gotta use twice the amount of liquid compared to pure whey or else it just gets clumpy and thick.......its good stuff tho you get both casein and whey isolate and its says powdered egg white too, i take it in between meals sometimes

Buffet, I always buy online so I am not sure what you get in your local store, here is the link to our sponsor's page:

Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein Gold, 10 Lbs. - $77.95 : Orbit Nutrition

The price is very good just 78 dollars (in Italy I paid 108 euro = 140 dollars)

there is just one little catch when buying in bulk - you get it delivered in a soft bag, no nice plastic container.

buddy, a quick advise - open your wallet and buy a pure whey concentrate or isolate AND a casein protein. The first you use post-workout, the second pre-bed. This gives you 60g of manufactured proteins, all other proteins you need should come from natural sources (chicken, fish, ...). Unless you believe everything the marketing guys at Met-RX tell you about these one-size-fits-all type of proteins.

Thanks bro - appreciated

re: Cereals, just read what the nutrition info says on the back - I have settled on Weetiabix as this is really low on carbs and on fat - but I am certain you may get even better stuff in the USA.

And to keep HiMet happy - you can mix the cereal very well with your Whey Protein (including Met-RX) :-)
