Hey guys

I am starting to workout now and i need help getting bigger. I'm a skinny dude and vegetarian with fast metabolism, I can't ever gain a pound seriously. What to take. One of my friends suggested creatine before workout and a weight gainer after. Anotehr friend suggested taking a weight gainer and cytocell after a workout. What should i do and what brands.

Thanks in advance

Well, It seems like your looking for a lean bulk, rather then a straight bulking cycle...however, you said you have a fast metabolism, so maybe bulking then cutting would be right for you. Thats your choice. Me, im doing a lean bulk, just put on lean muscle mass. Because your a vegetarian, you dont get protein from meats, therefore need to get it from some other source, like whey ect.

For your weight gainer, I would suggest use that as a meal replacement but recommend using it and add it as an extra meal into your diet like I do. I would suggest buying some Post workout Whey Protein or Protein Isolate(~90% straight protein, no fillers), and stick with Creatine also as post workout(Im assuming its a powder so you can mix the protein and creatine in one drink). From what I know, Creatine can dehydrate you which isnt smart for taking pre-workout. Taking it post workout will flood the muscles. I am unfamiliar with Cytocell, but after looking it up, looks like a "powerd up" Creatine, much like MUSCLETECH's CELLTECH(which is a waist of money). I would suggest, Weight Gainer, Post-workout protein and Creatine. Once again this is my suggestions from what I know, Goodluck to ya man.

hey thanks for the suggestions.. like right now i just want to get bigger and if i get musccle at the same time then so be it. And i used creatine ONCE and maybe it was jsut in the head but i felt like i was able to lift more when i took it before is this true or was i just feeling something else?

So for me to work out and put pounds you recommend creatine after workout and some post workout protein and weight gainer right. well Creatine i heard the cheapest is the best because it doesnt matter, and as for weight gainer.. when would i take it? which one would you recommend? And i would have to take something like why protein you say? i thought the weight gainer is suppose to give me protein so how does that work?

thanks

before you go spending your money on supplements, what do you eat?

How much of it and when? How many calories are you getting? What are your macro breakdowns per meal/overall?

Supplements are just that, a supplemental aid to everything else. If you don't have your diet down, then all the creatine in the world isn't going to help much.

Check out the bulking primer in the nutrition section.

Your creatine will be taken more than once a day not just after workout. You will most likely end up drinking 2-3 protein shakes a day if you try to get in appropriate amount of meals which would be around 6.
Best times are at least within 30 mins of waking and within 30 mins after working out.Your weight gainer will contain protein.
Now listening to some of what mindstar said tell us what you eat.Its my understanding that some vegetarians are different than others.
Then we can help you with your diet.

Just wondering exactly what Mindstar and Kaboom said what are you eating, have you ever had your metabolism checked by a doctor to tell you what your oxidation level is, or are you not eating enough calories because i trained a few vegetarians and they don't eat enough and usually end up going hypoglycemic half way into the workout.

if your metab is as high as mine theres no such thing as cutting, your in a constant bulk, before you get addicted to spending money on supplements(trust me its easy to do) ive found out that the more whole grains i eat the bigger i get period....as long as you eat at least 4 meals a day that consist of at least 50 complex carbs( oatmeal, sweet potatoes, brown rice, grits, cream of wheat, whole grain bread/bagels...anything whole grain) and a source of quality protein which is tough being a vegetarian because the best sources are chicken fish and eggs..um i know broccoli is a good source of protein...yea your def. gonna need some whey to get your daily protein and take a scoop maybe less every meal mixed with water

the idea is to never let your stomach get completely empty so that you stay in anabolic state for as much of the day as possible and ive found a good way to do this is by eating alot of complex carbs and sipping on water constantly throughout the day...you should drink at least a gallon of water a day

as far as supplements i would buy Optimum Nutrition(ON) Whey and ON Casein...casein is a slower digesting protein that is great for hardgainers, you should take a scoop of casein before bed mixed with about 10oz. of milk(not sure if you drink milk or not) but water will also do fine but milk digests slower making the casein even more effective while you sleep..and the more food you have in your stomach when you fall asleep the more satisfied you will be when you look in the mirror in the morning
