hey...lets start posting a thread on those good protein bars that can pack some calories since school is starting and we are going to be dead so we need a quick fix

We are about to try this one today........

1 cup Natural peanut butter
8 tablespoons honey
1&1/4 cups whey protein powder
1 cup of uncooked oatmeal

Mix the pb and honey in a bowl, microwave on full for 80 secs. Add the rest and mix together (get your hands in man!!) can add raisins/nuts etc to taste. Smooth into 13x9 tray and leave for 20 mins. Cut into 10 to 12 equal bars and wrap and store in fridge!!

umm do u really think this will harden if u leave it outside just like that after its all put in the tray. should u bake it ro put it in the fridge.
actually u can probably use the blender to mix it all!

let me know how it turns out when u make it bro

Ha ha Imraan, Banshee's a chic, but that's alright.

Banshee, if you cook it with the whey, will that kinda weaken it's potency? Meaning like less amino acid profile for your body to absorb?

Hmmm, Im not sure. I believe the fridge should be enough to allow the mix to harden. Ive made other recipes with similar ingredients and they have hardened alright in the fridge. But, regardless.... we will let you know how it goes.

i just bought some peanut butter and i dunno why ppl like peanut butter as far as the nutritional info goes. it says:
90 calories
7g fat
50mg sodium
4g carbs
3g protein


so its more fat than anything else. i guess not good if ur cutting but if bulking like i am its not tooo bad!

Yeah, but peanut butter contains a lot of good fats. So it's kinda worth it if you need the extra calories.

Yeah, youre right. Mostly fat but, its content of 3.5 grams saturated fat, 5 grams polyunsaturated fat, and 7.5 monounsaturated fat(per 2 tablespoons) make it a good source of EFAs. Fiber is also fairly high at 3 grams. And, its pretty cheap too!

Im bulking a bit right now too...so we are in good shape with the peanut butter! I would also avoid it if I was cutting.

Staybig, this recipe doesnt involve cooking the protein, so I doubt it will denature. My worry would be how long they would keep. I know you are not supposed to make a shake and let it sit overnight as it will denature. I wonder if this would happen with the bars too? Any ideas? Flex and Hdogg, I know you know the answer to this one!
