music helps, or it helped me when I was playing rugby. Also, I'd spend some time before each game visualizing myself hitting rucks, making tackles, running through tackles. I personally think visualizations is an amazing tool, I use it for the gym too.
Finding the hate for games is fine, but I preferred a quiet, workmanlike intensity. It was my job to hit people, and I was there to go to work. Those guys you see getting super amped often drop balls or run out of steam 1/2 way through a game. Adrenalin is tricky that way.
You also have to practice that way. You play how you practice, so practices should have an 'edge' to them. Let me ask you something...when that guy gave you a black eye did you deserve it? If not, and he did it on purpose, does he know never to do it again? A little edge in practice is all good...but only if you can drop it immediately afterwards and have a pint. It's always worked for me...almost at blows one minute, giving the same guy a ride to the pub after practice. It's the nature of the sport.
Baring all that, record
this on your ipod and watch it. It's ipossible not to want to kill someone after.
