found this on a search today about finding your correct amount of carbs or dextrose in this case post workout,, is this correct guys??

here is what the formula says to do

take your lbs divide with 2. than that number X 0.5
that is how much u need dextrose.

Seems right for me. I'm 210 and using that formula gives 52.5 grams of dextrose. I've always heard that the general rule is 50 grams, at least that's what I've been going by.

I have heard that you should start relatively low (around 30 grams) and increase up to 90 grams post workout over a 3-6 week span.

I dont know much about recommendations for the amount of dextrose to use. Never came across any research mentioning how much.

i guess i have not heard of anything about easing up to the amounts, dont see any need reason since its just a simple carb, and you body really does not need to get adjusted to the increase, its more about the amount vs. your body weight i believe

i think there is more involved to get an exact amount. amount of muscle mass vs bodyfat and body type are two that come to mind first but as a general rule of thumb i think the formula is correct

Or you could just divide by 4, mathematically its the exact same

I think a persons insulin sensitivity is also a factor that needs to be considered. May I ask where you got this info from? I only ask because it would be an interesting read and possibly a future sticky.

i recently heard the dextrose isn't the best for after workout because of the size of the molucule.....either too big or too small.....cant remember but have recently heard that maxy waize is superior.....now this is according to Dave Palumbo so i guess everyone is different but he says dextrose is best before a workout......either way im gonna try his carbolyze after im done my dextrose just to compare

So he has a product that is a competitor with dextrose, and he is saying dextrose isnt the best post-workout?


Looking at the prices of dextrose vs other post-workout carbs, it is the cheapest by far.

no no his isn't dextrose it has maxy waize and other things in it....i havent made up my mind yet i just wanna compare the two.....but so far since i been using dextrose i have noticed much fuller muscles and more size gains also

You clearly misunderstood me. His product is a competitor to the supplement known as dextrose... I know his product doesnt have dextrose, which is why he is ripping on it for post-workout use. He has a directly competing product...

I think there may be something to Musclemaniac's statement. I weigh 215 right now, and my bro weighs 185. We both are currently taking 50g. I get all nimbly bimbly bouncing off the walls, while my bro just chills out from 50g.
