Grapefruits are known to contain large amounts of Naringrin. The majoirty of caffeine and other alkaloids (nicotine, ephedra etc) are metabolized by various enzymes such as CYP1A2, CYP2E1, and CYP3A4. Naringrin hpwever has been documented to inhibit CYP3A4 and CYP1A2 activity in the human liver.
A lot of jargin here that people may not understand, but basically this means that naringin may increase the half life of various alkaloids, especially caffeine. So this information may contradict your original statement, so you might want to be more specific with what supplements you are referring to. It might "cancel out the effects" of some supplements, but it seems as if it enhances the effects of other supplements such as caffeine and ephedra.
