after doing some research i think i may have estrogen build up in my nipples from being heavy when i was younger. i talked to my dr and im going for a full body scan to check for thyroid to test levels to estrogen levels to everything, the works.

anyways when i go get this done i want to have some kind of research done so i dont go in clueless and take what ever he decides to write up for a prescription, if any at all.

are there any OTC anti estrogens, not an estrogen blocker because from what i read they just stop production of estrogen which isnt my suspected problem, just something to get the estrogen out of me.

How does it feel, is it sensative, itchy puffy? From your pic doesnt look to bad. Some people store fat in there chest more than other places and have to drop down to a rediculous body fat% to get rid of that extra fat. Also slight gyno during the teen years is actually more common than people will admit. Doctor might tell you that it may go away by itself which it really might. Just be carefull essing with any hormonal products at your age even if the doc says.

First of all stop. You don't need an anti-estrogen.

Your doctor is going to know 1000 times more than what you research off the internet and so you SHOULD go with whatever he says. Thats what a medical degree is for. Just because your nipples are big doesn't mean you have gyno, You obviously don't have a full understanding of it.

You NEED estrogen to be healthy. Any doctor is just going to tell you to stop being stupid and they won't prescribe you anything.

Why would you check your thyroid levels? If you have a steroid hormone imbalance that is not what you would check. People with high body fat have higher estrogen levels but if you are not fat anymore, then you don't need to worry about it.

Don't mean to come off as ****, but your hormone levels are fine. I can tell just by looking at your avatar.

One thing I really dont agree with is always taking what your doctor says as the final answer. Hes smart for doing research and looking into. Doctors have medical degrees but doesnt always mean there right.

True, and I apologize if that mislead you. I should re-phrase: what i meant was, don't read stuff on the internet and immediately think 'my doctors wrong'. If you have a good doctor he should have his bases covered and be open minded.

I feel like the best way is to ask in suggestion form, and show that you really understand whats going on in your body. Example:

Wrong: "Doctor, my nipples are puffy. i must have gyno. can i have a hormone test?"

Right: "Doctor, I was curious about getting my hormone levels checked. i was obese as a kid, and i know that high bodyfat leads to an increase in estrogen levels in men. I feel like i may have developed some pubertal gynocomastia and i would like you to examine to see if i may still have it or not."

Also ASK QUESTIONS about how everything works. if you have a good doctor he or she will explain it to you. If they don't, get a different doctor. please trust me on this. T.O. you are definitely right about doctors not always being right, my point was that you should trust them as a rule of thumb. but point taken, i hope this clears everything up.

how am i going about this the wrong way? i said i was going to wait until a test was done. Also you check for thyroid because an overactive thyroid can cause gyno. my family has a thyroid thing. my dad and sister both have under active thyroids and are both on medication for it.one of the symptoms of an under/over active thyroid is gyno. also some types of cancer show up and im very prone to having cancer because my mother had breast cancer.

Quote:
When gynecomastia occurs in adult males, it is usually caused by another condition, such as liver or lung cancer, cirrhosis of the liver, overactive thyroid, or by hormone problems, such as cancer of the pituitary gland, adrenal glands, or testicles. Alcohol, marijuana, methamphetamine, and heroin use also may cause gynecomastia.
webMD/yahoo health

the whole reason of this post was to gather some info about anti-estrogen if that is what the dr tells me to take depending on what the problem is. he might say everything is fine and im just fat. who knows. for the 2main reasons why im even bothering with this is because one, i have read in numerous places being fat as a child causes estrogen build up and two because my family has a history of thyroid problems and one of those symptoms is gyno.

I suspect I might have a mild to moderate case of gynecomastia as well. Unfortunately, there are no general practitioners in my country. You can visit a pathologist but will not get you anywhere. I am thinking of getting my hormone balance checked at a good medical center and then ask for their advice/guidance in case further exams are needed.
