Hey guys I've been taking creatine powder for about 2 weeks. So far I think it's been working- i've gained about 6 or 7 pounds. I was in GNC today and somehow got into a discussion with the person working there about creatine. She recommended that I take the capsules because I'm only 17 years old and the powder is more for people at least 20. I thought this was complete bs, but I'm not positive so I decided to post on here. Would the capsules be better for me? If so, should I throw out the powder I bought and immediately start taking the capsules?
One more quick question- I know if I stop using the creatine, the size and strength I've gained from it will decrease, but will the water in my muscles drain causing my skin to become flabby? My friend told me this and that is causing me to become cautious of creatine

BS, she wants you to buy the pills because they are more expensive.

No, your skin will not become flabby after a decrease in muscle hydration/volumizing.

Exactly. She was being a saleswoman. The powder in the capsules is exactly the same as the powder out of the jar. And that whole thing about capsules being better for you because you are younger is ridiculous and actually kinda funny.

Ya I got a container I mix for like $15 with 100 servings... The pills are like $36 and there might be the same amount of servings I'm not sure, maybe even less. But anyway I have a few ppl telling me all creatine does is bloat your muscles with air and water. How true is this

Water, yes, creatine does cause your muscles to retain more water. Air, definitely not. That would be a major problem.

Your muscles are NOT filled with air lol. Your muscles initally grow in response to creatine usage as a result of increased hydration (aka, muscle volumizing) and later on because of an increase in muscle protein content (aka, protein synthesis). When you stop using creatine any gains in muscle size that were attributed to muscle volumizing/water retention will be lost. Remember though, this is only muscle water that is being lost, not muscle proteins.. On the other hand, gains you made as a result of increased muscle protein content will be more enduring. Hope that makes sense

I don't think there's any difference if you take the creatine before the whey or with the whey. If you take the creatine first it'll digest first, but that's about it.

Sorry guys 1 more question. I'm having a little trouble setting a cycle for my creatine use. I've heard slot of people say 1 month on 1 month off but the other day my doctor told me one month of use per year is good for people my age. What do you guys think I should do?

yea i have something to say, your doc is a moron!! dont ask your family doctor about bodybuilding supplements, sorry to say they have no clue,, thats what were here for,, cycle times vary per different people, i would say a cycle like this would work just fine..

Loading phase 1 week: 10g creatine twice a day or you can split it and take
5g 4x a day for the fist week.. then the following weeks just a maintenance dosage

5-7 weeks: 5g twice a day

Total cycle length, 6-8 weeks.

Off for 3-4 weeks, then start all over

Do you have to load up and do a cycle like that or is it ok to just take 10gs a day and not stop?

To load or not to load. IMO it's not necessary to load but it can help you see results faster.. to get the full benefit of creatine you must saturate your muscle cells with it. Using a loading dosage of 15-25g per day for 5 days, you can quickly saturate the muscle cells in this time period and then use a maintenance dosage for the rest of the cycle.

I think what your friend kinda ment was if you make fast gains water and/or muslce like you have you have a good chance of stretching out your skin. I would start using some biooil or other good skin moisturizers or even baby oil. You dont want to get stretch marks if you can help it. I have heard mono makes you retain more water the other creatine but if you already have it its not that big of difference to be worth throwing it out. ps dont listen to anything else that sales lady tell ya fukcen sales people.
