Arginine frequency and dosage.

I've bought some arginine because I've done something (not saying the word for fear of idiots making an argument over a question, you guys know what it is though) that constricts veins from what I've heard. So I'm trying to use arginine and thusly nitric oxide to dilate the veins. If this hypothesis is correct then to go along with just taking arginine, I'd like to spreading it out evenly threw out the day. I believe this will yield best results. So the question is A) will this work to at least fight against the constricted veins, and B) what should the dosage be at every time I take it a day and how many times should I take it a day.

hey mike,, i actually have some stuff called AAKG, which is L-Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate powder, the info i read says ""For optimum results, take 1500-3500 milligrams 30 minutes before training. This will increase muscle pump and fullness. You can also take 1500 milligrams 3 times a day with creatine-based products to aid muscle growth.""

For sure Mike, thanks. I take N.O. Explode pre workout which works good too, I've heard about that AAKG that you have, not sure if it's better than normal arginine though. My arginine says something like 1000mg 3 times a day, I guess that'd be the best way to take it. I'm just wondering if I should take more or less but more frequently, it anthing of that is worth doing.

i think you could take it the same as what i have, if its 1,000 mg then thats like 3 grams which is the same as what the research i have read suggests, so yea i think the dosage is pretty close to mine.... i dont recall reading that more would be better ,, i`ll see what i can come up with tonight for max dosages and what not..

Setting an L-Arginine (Nitric Oxide) dosage goal

The goal in taking any supplement is to find the dosage amount and frequency of taking that supplement that provides your body with the greatest sustained benefit. Naturally, before deciding on the dosage that you will take of any supplement, you should first do some research to determine what the safe range or recommended dose information for that supplement is. You really can have too much of a good thing when it comes to dietary supplements. If for any reason you are unsure of your ability to handle the recommended dosage amounts, consult with your doctor. If you are on any medication or are receiving treatment for cancer or any other disease, you should not begin a dietary supplement routine until you have discussed your options with your doctor.

As you begin setting your L-Arginine dosage goal, you should be taking your own body's needs into consideration. But something that you should also keep in mind with an L-Arginine supplement is how much of the supplement is absorbed by the various organs of the body before it has a chance to reach all off the vessels. In the case of L-Arginine this point is specifically important as there are many body types that will absorb the supplement by more than half as it passes through the intestines and liver. In fact, a large part of the supplement ends up being excreted from the body in the form of waste. This is why when planning dosage amounts, it is important to take absorption into consideration. If you do not take a higher dose of L-Arginine, it may not be enough to do you any good as a very low does will simply be swept out of the body before it has a chance to provide any kind of benefit. Your dosage should be enough for the L-Arginine to eventually enter into the cells where it can be converted into nitric oxide thereby providing the heart health benefits.

Another thing that you should take into consideration is the amount of L-Arginine you consume through your diet. This needs to be taken into consideration as the total amount of L-Arginine consumption is best limited to 9 grams a day, however some recent uses show 20 grams of quality Arginine have produced good results. Many experts take this every day consumption of L-Arginine into consideration when recommending dosage levels for L-Arginine and recommend that no more than 6 grams be supplemented in order for the patient to stay within a healthy range. Experts also suggest that a minimum of 4 grams of L-Arginine be supplemented in order to increase nitric oxide production after the body's natural absorption process. If you consume a lot of red meat, 4 grams a day may be more than enough, if you do not, then 4 grams of L-Arginine might not be enough. These examples provide the reasoning behind why it is best for individuals to set their own dosage goals. No two people are alike and therefore no two digestive systems or chemical make-ups are alike and differing supplement levels make perfect sense.

Another interesting factor to take into consideration as you are planning how to incorporate your supplement into your everyday life is when during the day the supplement will do you the most good. L-Arginine is a supplement that has the most beneficial effect when it is taken right before bed. This is because the body produces fewer nitric oxide cells when it is not moving (a.k.a. while you are sleeping). This is why most people experience heart attacks at night or the early morning hours. The L-Arginine can be working to provide your body with the nitric oxide that it needs during the time when it needs it most. For those who wish to supplement their dosage twice a day; half of the grams recommended should be taken at night and the other half can be taken in the morning.

ok thats what i was reading into also prime,, figured i would be safe around 6-9 but your also a bit bigger than me if that makes any difference in the amounts the we should be taking in?

ive read 4000mg twice a day if over 200lbs
3000mg 150-199lbs twice a day
2000mg 150 and below twice a day.

after reading this im in the 250+ category so 5000mg twice a day

I saw the first post Mike, if you look at the times I posted my post 1 minute after you did and must have been typing when you posted that.

After reading through those articles and the back of my protein powder, .6 grams per scoop, I'll take half a gram in the morning with my protein shake, .5 grams pre workout with N.O. Explode. .5 gram pre bed and the 1.2 grams in my PWO shake for a total of about 3.1 grams. I'm 155lbs so that's pretty good.

N.O. Explode actually has arginine AKG in it, not sure if that's the same thing the guys were talking about.
