Electrolytes are substances containing free ions, especially ionic compounds dissolved in water, that act as electrical conductors. Nutritionally, they serve as aids to rehydration. If you consume large amounts of pure water during periods of physical exertion, the water can dissolve salts in your cells, impeding the normal function of the cells. In extreme cases, it can even lead to fatal water poisoning. But a drink containing electolytes allows your body to use the water to rehydrate without suffering those ill effects. It not something you have to do all the time remember though

Where did you pull that from? You won't die from water intox unless you don't pee or don't eat.

perfectly explained mumbo. electrolytes are important before, during, and especially after any cardio , HIIT, or intense workout. G2 is low cal and high electrolyte if your looking to lose weight, also eat salty foods afterward.

as others have mentioned, electrolytes are very important before/during/after cardio and long periods of exercise. personally, i prefer to drink malt liquor to restore my electrolytes. haha well, i wish it could. anyway, it gets way to expensive to buy gatorade or sports drink bottles all the time so i just buy the powders you mix with water. for work outs i prefer cytomax performance drink powder. it comes in a bunch of flavors but it sits a little heavy to use with cardio. instead i use packets of electromix because it provides the electrolytes but it only has a slight lemon lime taste so it's basically just like drinking water with electrolytes in it.
