Hi guys

I'm a real caffeine addict. I really like my coffe, would guess i drink nearly half- whole liter a day(about 16-30 ounces). One mug at breakfest, one at lunch, one in the afternoon and sometimes one in the evening. What are the effects of this? Do I need to cut down because it's bad for my gains or can I keep it up without worrying?

1 cup of coffee in the morning is all i need.
if i'm working out that day, i save the caffiene intake for pre-workout.

I drink probably a full pot of coffee per day. I typically have less problems cutting back on my coffee intake during spring/summer though. lately i've started taking a vitamin D pill and acai, so I will try to cut back on my coffee intake and hope that those two pick up the slack for me. The short winter days really wipe me out.

in 8 or so years of heavy coffee drinking I have noticed two things.

a. keeps ya regular
b. I need to drink a lot of water after drinking coffee to hydrate myself enough for working out. otherwise I puke.

ya they say for the amount of coffee you drink you should double the amount of water you drink...like if you drink 1 cup of coffee than 2 cups of water type of thing

a little bit is healthy yes no worries ive heard 2 cups,

Im pretty sure caffeine is responsable for elevating cortisol levels when you train we all know thats catabolic, so not good for your gains

But Moro I train harder when i take caffeine before a workout..
Some studies show that you train harder but you put your body into a more catabolic state blah blah long story short it cancels itself out

I feel you am a stim junkie! It won't kill you....at the moment anyway. It may raise blood pressure too much for too long a duration and cause arthrosclorosis or hardening of the arteries. Oddly enough however, it has been shown that chronic caffeine consumers adapt and eventually heir BP doesn't raise witht he caffeine consumption.

IMO I would cut down if you can but no need to eliminate consumption.

I read something along the lines of what borobulker was saying. Consuming too much caffeine on a routine basis will eventually burn out your adrenal glands. I think if you take a caffeine supplement before your workouts and are a regular coffee drinker, I would cycle off the caffeine supplement every once in a while.

Lets remember too, your body builds up a tolerance to caffeine so if you take a break every once in a while your body will feel the effects of caffeine better.

Coffee is also very acidic, which has a whole lot of negative effects on your body. Probably the most important is that it can cause stomach ulcers.
