i personally quite eating protein bars years ago. there is not a watchdog agency ensuring that the label and whats in the bar are actually the same. personally, i feel it is better to have a protein shake pre-workout if you haven't eaten, simply because the shake up loads faster into your system.

Protein bars aren't always the best choice, but if you want a good bar I would look into VPX Zero Impact bars.

Dude just know this...pretty much protien bars are glorified candy bars. Now if you really must have a "bar" or something i think the best bars out there are the LARABARs. Yeah they arent a "protien" bar but theyre totally organic and totally natural. They only have a few indgredients in each bar. Check em out.

you could get some dextrose or waxy maize or some glyco-maize< my favorite to drink during your workout, also are you getting your pre workout meal in 1-2 hours before you workout??

Meh. Unless you've been in food deprivation for days upon days, you won't sacrifice very much, if any muscle at all during fasted training. Personally, I'd rather go that workout fasted, than eating a protein bar that usually taste like garbage to begin with.

I like this post, it's true... they're glorified candybars. 1/2-3/4 of the carbs packed in them are are sugars or CS.

bro u should never be hungry wen u get to the gym, always eat a meal 1-2hrs pre workout like mike said... and even if u WERE hungry pre workout, eating solid food like that immediately pre workout like that wouldnt do u any good... as soon as u start lifting ur body isnt going ot be focused on digesting that food while its in the stomach because its going to be focused keeping ur muscles fueled and hydrated off of the energy that it has readily available.. thats just how the brain and nervous system work... but anything is better tahn nothing i guess so im gonna agree with dan on this one and say that a shake would be better because it will get into ur system much much faster tahn solid food... hope that helps bro

It's simultaneous; digestion is powered by the autonomic nervous system, while energy excursion is centrally and autonomically started. Glycolysis, gluconeogensis, lipolysis, and so on occurs in case of high energy demands like exercise, which one depends on the individual's energy intake at the time. The body is mysterious and utterly amazing, but one action cannot be shut down to initiate another.

Nevertheless, eating right before the workout will not be stored regardless if you train or not.
