I'm getting back in the gym after a long layoff and was wondering if anyone could suggest a good, basic supplement stack I could use to get started. Here's what I'm using currently:

-Multivitamin tablet
-BCAAs throughout the day
-Protein shake when I don't have time to eat whole food or just feel like I need a little extra
-Glutamine before & after workouts
-Hydroxycut before workouts for energy
-Mass Recovery by American Bodybuilding as a PWO drink

That's about all in terms of supps, along with a pretty good whole food diet.

Any suggestions as to any other supps I could add that might be effective given what I'm already taking? Thanks!

if you're not cutting or trying to lose weight drop the hydroxycut, thats a lot of caffine to be taking just for energy.... cut out the glutamine and add in creatine mono... make sure your eating enough good whole foods, and train hard. good luck

I'm mainly trying to cut and regain some of my lost strength for now. I wanted to get my bodyfat back down to @ 10 or so before I really start bulking again. I'm currently at @ 15% following a long layoff from working out. I used to train regularly but haven't for a few years due to injuries and other stuff, but the fat seems to be coming off pretty quickly with some hard training/cardio and a pretty clean diet. I'm not too concerned with strength at this point, but the strength gains are still there for now anyway due to not having trained for so long. I guess my main questions would be:

Is glutamine not worth taking at all? I still have a couple bottles of gelcaps left at home. I always heard it was good for anti-catabolic, especially if you're doing cardio early morning on an empty stomach. I do this on the days I don't lift and usually wake up, have some coffee with water and glutamine, then head off for some cardio. Is there a more effective way to do this?

Would it be beneficial to add in creatine now or wait a few months until I've gotten my base back and am ready for some more hard, serious lifting?

Do you think it's ok to keep up with the hydroxycut for now until I shed some pounds and then cut it out when I start training really heavy, or should I get rid of it now?

Thanks for the advice!

Oh, and any other info that would be helpful in providing advice such as my goals, stats, current training & training background, etc. please let me know and I'll make sure to post it up. I love reading these posts. There seems to be so much knowledge out there in the dungeon and I love how everyone is so cool on here and likes to help everyone. I used to know a little bit back in the day, but a lot of you guys REALLY know you're stuff, very impressive. I've definitely learned a lot already. This site is definitely motivating. Thanks for the advice!
