All you should need is:

Multi-Vitamin
Fish Oil
Whey Protein-ON 100% Whey
Creatine Mono
BCAA-Xtend or else I would just go with plain leucine

Optional:
Nitric Oxide if you got money to spend.

Hey Allstar,

Does that list of supplements also apply to older BBders

(I am 36 is there anything else in terms of supplements that would be of any help?)

I really dont think you would need any more things added with age, maybe calcium depending on your bone health.. it all really depends on what you are getting from your diet and if you are deficient in any place

What about a test booster? Waste of time and money? I bought ZMA from ON, did I just waste my dough?

I also picked up Alpha Lipoic Acid, not sure how to use it, I read an article in MD magazine. I don't have the mag it wasn't mine but the benefits are fat lose, better blood sugar control?

I know nothing about test boosters/PHs/Steroids..but from what I've heard is test boosters are a waste of money. I don't know how long you have been training, but if you haven't been for atleast 3 years serious, I wouldn't look at PH/steroids.

I'm takin a ZMA stack right now, its great, im also taking Vitamin C.

As for ALA its a fatty acid found naturally in the body. Its a anti oxidant, it is said to protect the brain and help with aging. As for losing weight im not sure, it probably says on the bottle that it converts glucose into energy also or something along those lines.

Hey allstar thanks for the link on the ZMA info.

The article states ZMA being an alternative to "gear" I would have to say, uummm NO!

Mind you I don't no "Squat" about gear, just that any gear cycle should always have test in it?

I think that is correct (learnt that here in the dungeon)

Thanks for the help and sorry for hijacking this thread...

The quest for knowledge continues!

anthk,

you said you make your own ZMA...ive been looking at this and they only come in tablet form...do you get Zinc/Magnesium tablets and then just take them before bed? or do you take them in another way?

also, i saw a couple kinds of magnesiums when i was checking out the tablets...magnesium citrate/oxide...which one is the right one?

am i even close to what you were referring to? lol...if not, please point me in the right direction on this...only reason im nitpicking here is bc im trying to see what supps will cost me per month and any corners I can cut would be fantastic haha...im sure youve all experienced this also, thx!

get each of these seperate before bed magnesium citrate (400mg-600mg), zinc(30mg-50mg) & vitamin b6(10mg-20mg)
magnesium oxide has less bio-availability than magnesium citrate so obviously get magnesium citrate.

i saw that post also..didn't question it as to not start any bickering, but hey - now there's strength in numbers..

his frustrations may be due to the fact that he posted this:

"N.O.XPLODE - 30min. before workout.
TRUE-MASS - 1hr before and after workout.
VOLUMAIZE - middle of your workouts.
CELLMASS.. immediately after workout.
SYNTHA-6 before bed."

and i answered with:
"N.O. Explode - $30
True Mass - $40
Volumaize - $40
CellMass - $35
Syntha 6 - $40

a grand total of $185 for roughly a months supply..personally, i think they can keep it..and thats rough online pricing, not even including shipping...if you go to vitamin shoppe or gnc, forget it - you'd get killed."

in another thread...but, hey who knows...seems like a real nice guy lol.

thats very true..all the big name products give a 'propietary blend', etc., of what the active product is supposed to be...how do you know you're not getting fluff?..you gotta check labels and i just started, but i'm def down for getting more bang for my buck.

ps.
if you take all that stuff for the time BSN thinks it will take to get results, 'please take these products for at least three months to see results' lol, or whatever - you'll be broke, BUT, you immediately turn into Ronnie Coleman...no joke, try it I did it once. haha
