Whey shake with creatine and a complex carb about 45 minutes before your workout.

Boneless breast of chicken with fat trimmed off. Either grilled or oven baked.

Not for pre or post workout.. Rather just one of your meals in general, preferably with a brown rice or sweet potatoe. 1 cup serving with some fibrous veges also

you can have something to eat 45 minutes before a workout but it's not going to be digested by then.
the carbs won't all be converted to glucose after 45 min. i don't think.

i get the best results by eating about 60g of complex carbs, a little fruit, and like 6oz of chicken breast or something 3 hours before the workout.

my performance is MUCH better on an empty stomach and no you won't loose the energy from the carbs 3 hours before.

if you eat something 45 min. before your workout, that's good cuz it'll get you anabolic again, but i don't think that will fuel your workout.

that's what i've learned through trial and error.

Typically before the gym, like 45 minutes if I can plan it like that. Something like a banana w/ peanut butter and a piece of multi grain bread, or a small whey shake and an oatmeal bar. Those are two easy quick snack that are good before the gym for me personally. Also washed down with a nice big glass of NO-Xplode does good for me. I've also done two Mickey D's double cheesburgers but I wouldn't reccomend that. My metabolism and good diet lets me have that as a treat if I want.
