Sorry couldn't resist ripping off mit's title

OK my question. Being on a CKD, I would like to get the advice of you folks on my post workout protein shake. I've been told once by a trainer, I should take my post pro shake with a simple carb in order to more effectively get to where it needs to go.

Only issue is, I'm under 30 carbs a day with the exception of my final workout saturday (beginning of my carb up cycle).

I'm not really happy at the thought of using any of these few carbs I'm allowed to accompany my post shake, but if it's a must then so be it.

I'm taking 2 scoops (50g protein) of Nature's Best Isopure whey pro isolate.

Thanks all!

Thats the same protein i take, are you trying to add protein to your diet or what? just cause your not taking it with a simple carb after workout doesn't make it less effective. i think we've talked before about cdk. it doesnt matter what you take it with just make sure your taking 1.2-1.8g/lb each day, ive been missing that number and im losing a lil muscle but im also cutting significantly fast. yeah and i understand not wanting to give up any of those carbs...there very precious.

Are you using ketostix?

I have a question for you as i HATE the taste of this protein, have you tried any other no carb pro?

Yeah, i use ketostix but with consuming 1.5 to 2 gallons of water a day, I'm not getting a very accurate reading. I do read between trace and small late at night though. It took me almost 3 weeks to get over the whole ketostix thing lol.

I haven't tried any other 0 carb protein, but I did see a can of Isopure Orange/banana/pineapple the other day. That will for sure be my next purchase as far as protein goes.

I also need casein for the evening because I almost puke every night when I have a bowl of cottage cheese.

I've only used it with water. The cookies and cream is tolerable. The vanilla tasted better when i tossed a Splenda in it.

Looking forward to trying the new one.

Fun Fact: last night was the closest I've come to throwing up while having my cottage cheese. There's gotta be a better slow digesting protein out there until i get casein.

Well simple carbs play a huge role in turning your body from catabolic (after a workout) to anabolic. Taking in simple carbs after your workout replenishes the glycogen lost during training, spikes insulin (natural musclebuilding hormone in the body) and helps drive protein into the muscles (think delivery system). Even when cutting for comps, guys take carbs after workouts because they know the important role they play in recovery, growth and keeping the muscle belly full.
