hi shane im from australia. a recommendation would be centrum.
you can buy it from local supermarkets and its pretty cheap and contains all the essential micro and macro nutrients. A to zinc so they say. i used to take them but in my opinion i dont think its that necessary to take a multi, as a well balanced diet will more than meet the needs of supplying you with your daily RDI. i get to scared of overdosing on vitamins which is dangerous.

Overdosing on vitamins? I think you'd be safe with one a day buddy...no one is gonna take 5 multi's, that's just retarded. Plus, you piss out all those excess vitamins and minerals even after only one multi, that's why your piss is bright yellow.

^ i thought that too 'pissing out the extra' i dont think thats why your piss is extra yellow tho. but freak mentioned recently about excess vit c being bad and now this guy^^^ i forgot to ask how and why? ill have to look into it but if anyone knows...? i dont think can overdose on vitimims taking once a day either even with a healthy diet. i dunno if you have 'sisu' brand over there but that what i like. i have em but i dont take them everyday mabey like every 3rd or 4th day. i think the mens and womens are pretty much the same only the mens has less or no iron, thats why you see a muliti thats says no iron sometimes so that would work as well.

hmm so cant find anything to great but it seems its the fat solube vitimins that are bad to have in excess. 2 articles from the same site

There are two types of vitamins: water soluble and fat soluble. Here we discuss about fat soluble vitamins, their function, importance, deficiency and benefits to our health.

Fat soluble vitamins are stored in our body. They are stored in liver and fatty tissues of the body. There is no need to replace fat soluble vitamins regularly.

As fat soluble vitamins are stored in our body, if we take excess amounts of these vitamins, it may lead to toxicity

You should not take excess supplements of fat soluble as they may be destructive to health. Fat soluble vitamins are A, D, E and K.

Fat soluble vitamins:

Vitamin A: Vitamin A is fat soluble and no need to supply regularly as it is stored in our body. Vitamin A helps in repairing body tissues, helps in maintenance of body’s mucus membranes, helps in maintaining healthy skin and bones, and it is essential for night vision.

Vitamin A deficiency causes rough, dry skin, night blindness, defective teeth and gums, and increased susceptibility to infections. It is found in carrots, apricots, papaya, oranges, tomatoes, spinach, milk, liver, broccoli, sweet potato, cantaloupe, and green leafy vegetables.

Excess intake of vitamin A causes birth defects, loss of appetite, headache, liver damage, nerve damage, nausea, dry skin, bone and joint pains, and abnormal bone growth.

Vitamin D: Vitamin D is fat soluble and no need to supply regularly as it is stored in our body. We can get vitamin D when we are exposed to direct sun light. It is necessary for growth, required for teeth and bone formation, maintains stable nervous system, and improves absorption and utilization of calcium and phosphorus.

Vitamin D deficiency causes rickets, tooth decay, muscle weakness, defective bone growth and inadequate absorption of calcium. It is found in milk, liver, egg yolk, salmon fish and tuna fish.

Excess intake of vitamin D causes weak bones and muscles, increased calcium in blood, excessive bleeding, hardening of soft tissues, fatigue, and headaches.

Vitamin E: Vitamin E is fat soluble and no need to supply regularly as it is stored in our body. Vitamin E works as an antioxidant and helps in reducing health problems. It protects cell membranes and tissues, necessary for normal growth, protects tissues against damage caused by free radicals, and important for proper functioning of immune system.

Vitamin E deficiency causes dry skin, fat deposits in muscles, hemolytic anemia and poor circulatory performance. It is found in wheat germ, peanuts, almond, green leafy vegetables, legumes, egg yolk, nuts and seeds.

Excess intake of vitamin E causes bleeding interfering with vitamin K and prolongs clotting time.

Vitamin K: Vitamin E is fat soluble and no need to supply regularly as it is stored in our body. It can also be formed by bacteria in the intestines but it is not sufficient for our body. Therefore diet with vitamin K is included. It helps in bone mineralization and clotting the blood.

Vitamin K deficiency causes increased tendency to hemorrhage and diarrhea. It is found in wheat germ, orange, legumes, green leafy vegetables, cabbage, milk, egg yolk, tomatoes, and strawberries.

Excess intake of vitamin K causes jaundice and hemolytic anemia.

It is not necessary to take fat soluble vitamins regularly but you have to check whether you are getting enough vitamins to work your body properly

If you take vitamins daily, it prevents health risks and diseases and improves your health.

Researchers say that consuming extra vitamins than required may prove harmful and risky.

If you are taking a healthy diet, then it is not necessary to consume those supplements separately.

When women are still in childbearing age, extra quantities of vitamin A supplements may cause birth defects.

There is an increased risk of women having hip fractures after menopause, if they take extra quantities of it.

Overdose causes liver abnormalities. Excess intake of it may also cause osteoporosis.

High quantity of vitamin B complex can cause diarrhea, stomach cramps and nausea.

Vitamin B1 may cause drowsiness, B2 causes bright yellowing of urine, B3 causes liver problems, niacin causes temporary flushing sensation, and B6 may cause numbness in hands and legs together with headaches.

Extra quantities of vitamin C can cause formation of kidney stones. If you are taking it in your food as well as calcium supplements, there is an increased risk of formation of kidney stones. Extra amounts of calcium affect your brain function and may cause dementia. High quantities of it can cause diarrhea and stomach problems. The body levels of copper are reduced with large amounts of vitamin C.

Overdose of vitamin D causes vomiting, constipation, weakness, nausea, weight loss and poor appetite. Taking too much causes thirst, bone pain, itching skin, sore eyes and muscle problems.

An excessive intake of it increases the calcium absorption which leads to high levels of calcium in the blood and results in increased absorption of calcium from the intestinal tract. Excessive intake of it in long term may cause hardening of arteries and high blood pressure.

If you are taking extra vitamin E, it increases the risk of heart failures. If you are using it from long period, it may not prevent heart disease and cancer but increases the risk of heart disease. If you are taking in large doses while undergoing radiation therapy, you may have increasing rate of cancer than who were given placebo.

It is difficult to get higher doses of vitamin K from normal diet. If you are taking vitamin K3 in excess, then it can cause sweating, flushing, anemia and jaundice.

Remember that vitamins are important to your body but excess consumption may prove toxic to your body and may end with severe health problems. It is important for our body to take these nutritional supplements as sometimes we may not take a healthy diet.

But you have to take limited amount as excess intake of it may become toxic to your health. If you feel uncomfortable in taking supplements, consult your doctor and explain your problem, he may recommend a healthy diet which consists of all the vitamins and no need to take extra vitamins.

well im just going on by what i learnt studying nutrition. i read the label on my centrum and i guarantee you i eat all daily RDI basically. its actually quite easy to meet RDI if you eat a balanced diet...... so if u meet daily RDI throw in a multi which is basically needed if you eat really really bad...
if they are fat soluble vitamins you will just be adding to there storage and thats not a good thing. its fine with water soluble ones but centrum has fat and water soluble so u cant just go taking the ones out you need. id just rather get it from food but thats just my choice and im just voicing my opinion. id rather spend that $20 or so dollars on extra fruit and vegetables..

an example is that centrum contains basically more or near the daily RDI for the vitamins and minerals in the multi... so combine that with an already sufficiant RDI by eating foods than what do you get?? overdose. im talking about fat soluble vits to.
