I get all of mine from my American Sports Nutrition whey isolate powder, it says, and I quote "L-Isoleucine (BCAA) 1747 mg" and "L-Leucine (BCAA) 1444 mg per serving."

If I get in 3 scoops as my post in combination with my other misc shakes throughout the day, I would think I'd be getting atleast 3494 mg of L-Isoleucine a day, and on my weight-lifting days, about 8735 mg. [1747x5]. Apply this forumal to the L-Leucine and I'm getting quite a lot, in my newb opinion.

I keep hearing BCAAs are important for muscle recovery. Do you guys think I'm getting enough? I take 1 scoop [1747 mg and 1444 mg, two different kinds as listed above] and sip on it with water during my workout and I take 3 scoops as my post, 5241 and 4332 mgs as my post. The post is when I get the majority of my dosage of them.

Why do you take 3 scoops of whey protein post workout? Doesnt this equate to nearly 70 grams of protein? YIKES. Who told you to do such a thing?

BTW, there are 3 BCAAs. Your whey only provides two of them?

Leucine is the one most studies seem to suggest is what you really want.

Im undecided if the three together is necessary. But the fact that your whey provides two but not all three is weird.

Not quite. I'm not sure where this idea or notion developed that only a certain amount of protein can be absorbed by the body in one sitting, probably a supplement company.

After protein is digested and broken down its absorbed by the intestines and slowly enters into the blood stream as amino acids. The amino acids then circulate, sometimes what you eat will release amino's into the blood for up to 4 or 5 hours. What ever is not taken up by your muscles and used in protein synthesis is converted in the liver by either gluconeogenesis or ketogenesis into glucose or acetyl co-a (which can then either be used for fuel, or converted into fatty acids and stored in adipose)

I do, however, agree that 70 grams of protein post workout is quite excessive.

So does it matter than I only have 2 of 3 three kind... should I look for a whey that has all 3, is it that important?

I dont think its essential, but i would personally switch whey proteins anyway. I bet you can get a better product for a better price.

But, you should be able to get BCAAs and EAAs from various food sources. His main source for arguably the most necessary BCAA is there.

It just depends.

If he wants more and feels like he isn't getting enough he can go for it.

But he needs to be careful because of the fact that there's a possibility of wasting money and toxicity

Should I look for a product that carries all my BCAAs, like an exclusive product? And if so, when should I take it, like as a a pre and a post?

Yea, the possibility of wasting money is where most of my advice comes from.

There is a tendency to go out and buy every supplement known to man to make sure you get everything, but you CAN get too much of certain vitamins/minerals/etc and basically be wasting money and/or hurt your health because of this.

So you need to watch what you eat and be aware of what MOST diets lack and what most diets have a surplus of, or just track everything on nutritiondata.com to make sure. :)
