Not quite. I'm not sure where this idea or notion developed that only a certain amount of protein can be absorbed by the body in one sitting, probably a supplement company.
After protein is digested and broken down its absorbed by the intestines and slowly enters into the blood stream as amino acids. The amino acids then circulate, sometimes what you eat will release amino's into the blood for up to 4 or 5 hours. What ever is not taken up by your muscles and used in protein synthesis is converted in the liver by either gluconeogenesis or ketogenesis into glucose or acetyl co-a (which can then either be used for fuel, or converted into fatty acids and stored in adipose)
I do, however, agree that 70 grams of protein post workout is quite excessive.
