i was reading LBJ's introduction post lol, and i was wondering taurine creatine glutamine = good? whys that and how do you use it, is it a preworkout sup? but i was looking and it seemed to suggest before and post workout. (does this replace preworkout and postworkout shakes? or is it an addition to the lot.) I think it'd replace the prewokout sup because there will just be an overload of creatine. just in general Id like some links or information please :) (btw would it need to be cycled like regular creatine ? yer?) LBJ said something bout greater growth hormones (from memory).
lol so much, sorry.

Alright mate. Welcome to the Dungeon.
About this stack, it's used as an addition to your original stack you're already doing. I've always been told when I was younger by a friend who trained with Dorian back in Birmingham that this particular stack will raise your body's own growth hormone. Since then I've always stuck to it. Take Glutamine how you would normally take it, with the creatine take it how you should & cycle it. Taurine you can carry on taking as long as you want. I've been on these things for a good 9-10 years now.

Good luck

Ok I have a question, if your on gear, does it make any sense to still be on taurine, creatine and glutemine lbj. Your getting more benefit from the gear aren't you?

Every credible study I've seen with glutamine has shown the gains in lean mass are intestinal gains, not skeletal muscle. Intestines are a muscle (a smooth muscle), and they are lean, so of course supplement companies will use this to their marketing advantage.

Now, your intestines play a vital role in your immune system, so if you succumb easy to disease and sickness, its a worthy supplement to take. However, if you do not get sick easy, I wouldn't waste money on it.

Studies that shown it to promote gains in skeletal muscle have used glutamine via an IV drip and are generally done on bed ridden patients to prevent muscle wasting.

Now, creatine is beneficial supplement, and its effectiveness has been proven beyond any doubt.

In terms of amino's raising levels of growth hormone. Doing a set of squats to failure, or a 30 second sprint to failure will raise plasma growth hormone levels significantly higher (2-3 fold) than will be seen from ingestion of any amino acid on an empty stomach.

I will try to find more to confirm my statements about glutamine tonight.

Quote:
GLUTAMINE SUPPLEMENTATION DID NOT BENEFIT ATHLETES DURING SHORT-TERM WEIGHT REDUCTION
Kevin, J. Finn1image, Robin Lund1 and Mona Rosene-Treadwell2

1University of Northern Iowa, USA
2 South Dakota State University, USA

Journal of Sports Science and Medicine (2003) 2, 163-168

ABSTRACT
The purpose was to determine if glutamine supplementation would prevent a loss of lean mass in athletes during a 12-day weight reduction program. It was hypothesized that supplementation would spare lean body mass. Subjects (n=18) exercised and dieted to create a 4186kJ·day-1 energy deficit and a 8372 kJ·day-1 energy deficit on days 1-5, days 6-12, respectively. The glutamine (GLN) group (n=9) ingested 0.35 g·kg-1 body mass of glutamine while a placebo was administered to the remaining subjects. Body mass (BM), lean body mass (LBM) and fat mass (FM), were measured at days 0, 6, and 12. GLN and placebo groups both lost significant amounts of BM, LBM and FM. There were no significant differences between groups. The findings indicate little benefit for retention of lean mass with supplementation of glutamine during a short-term weight reduction program.

Another:

In bold is a paragraph copied from the abstract, and perhaps the most important part of the study to read (in terms of this discussion). If you notice, the Creatine and creatine+glutamine group both made significant changes, however there was no difference between the CM and CG groups, verifying the ineffectiveness of oral glutamine.

Quote:
he Effects of 8 Weeks of Creatine Monohydrate and Glutamine Supplementation on Body Composition and Performance Measures.

Original Article
Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research. 17(3):425-438, August 2003.
LEHMKUHL, MARK 1; MALONE, MOLLY 2; JUSTICE, BLAKE 2; TRONE, GREG 2; PISTILLI, E D 2; VINCI, DEBRA 2; HAFF, ERIN E. 3; KILGORE, J. LON 3; HAFF, G. GREGORY 3

Abstract:
Twenty-nine (17 men, 12 women) collegiate track and field athletes were randomly divided into a creatine monohydrate (CM, n = 10) group, creatine monohydrate and glutamine (CG, n = 10) group, or placebo (P, n = 9) group. The CM group received 0.3 g creatine[middle dot]kg body mass per day for 1 week, followed by 0.03 g creatine[middle dot]kg body mass per day for 7 weeks. The CG group received the same creatine dosage scheme as the CM group plus 4 g glutamine-day-1. All 3 treatment groups participated in an identical periodized strength and conditioning program during preseason training. Body composition, vertical jump, and cycle performances were tested before (T1) and after (T2) the 8-week supplementation period. Body mass and lean body mass (LBM) increased at a greater rate for the CM and CG groups, compared with the P treatment. Additionally, the CM and CG groups exhibited significantly greater improvement in initial rate of power production, compared with the placebo treatment. These results suggest CM and CG significantly increase body mass, LBM, and initial rate of power production during multiple cycle ergometer bouts.

On the basis of the current literature, it was hypothesized
that the CG treatment would result in
significantly larger anabolic signal as a result of a larger
stimulus by the cellular swelling mechanism (25–27,
64) and result in greater protein synthesis in response
to the strength and conditioning program (2). Unexpectedly,
the CG treatment group did not experience
significantly greater LBM gains, compared with the
CM treatment group.

Yes, but I haven't always been on gear Chris Creatine is a very good supp to run with PCT to help keep gains you made on cycle. Glutamine I've always used, same with the Taurine, they all have their own benefits which is why I still take it, wheather I'm on gear or not.

& yep YM, I've been taking Taurine & Glutamine since I was 14ish. Creatine when I was 15
