if you double the serving for the Gold Standard, calorie and protein wise they aren't very far off...does the pro complex serve a different purpose?...anyone out there have a preference?

The difference is that the pro complex is a blend of proteins so that you have a supply of amino acids for a longer period of time. The whey gold standard is just whey and nothing else.

thanks..i would imagine the logic is that if you drink more than 2 shakes a day, the gold standard is the way to go as opposed to Pro Complex being taken 1-2 times daily.

So one is a casein powder and the other is a quick release protein for faster absorbtion..

Casein at night time
Whey pre ( before ) and post ( after ) workout..

Well the pro complex HAS casein in it, but its not 100% casein. Its a blend of different proteins. The ON Casein is 100% casein.

And as far as shakes, I would go with the pro complex if you take 2 or more shakes a day because it won't be out of your system in 30 minutes like the whey will. And during the day, unless you just got finished working out, you dont really need all your protein to absorb super fast or else your aminos will be used up within the hour.

pro complex is a great blended protein like mentioned above, the only problem with it is that the price for it for the amount of servings you get it is a bit higher, and I know with me I get in about 3-4 shakes a day outside of my meals, and using complex would really hurt my wallet. If that wasn't an issue, I would use procomplex hands down!

Question I have is do yall think it would be a good idea to utilize 100% Casein in conjunction with Pro Complex?

I already use Pro Complex and luv the results thus far but upon reading the ingredients I noticed that the protein blend is Whey Protein Isolates, Egg Albumen, and Hydrolyzed Proteins but not necessarily Casein (I think thats is even more evident in the fact that he Pro Complex Banana flavor is advertised as "Pro Complex, Banana Cream w/ Casein" while the others aren't). I am really leaning towards adding it to my diet but just wanted some opinions. As of right now I am taking 1 scoop pro Complex pre and 2 post workout.

it does have casein in it, although its not mentioned like the banana flavor. You can add the 100% casein if you want and take it right before bed for prolonged release throughout the night, not a bad idea. I would say go for it.

Syntrax Matrix 5.0 seems like a decent alternative to the pro complex. Its cheaper and there is 70 servings in a 5lb bag for 40 bucks. It tastes fantastic too.

another good time released protein is MHP probolic-sr, i believe its a 12 hour released protein for prolonged release through the night so your body doesn't use your muscles for energy, not to mention this is when your body really produces GH and giving your body protein while its producing gh can really benefit your muscle gains and retention.

well, since the pro complex has double the protein than your typical protein, wouldn't the cost be the same in the long run?
