Just today I got more Creatine and Whey, though not of the ON brand, I got both from American Sports Nutrition, a highly-recommended brand by the people in the Apple Fitness [a local shop where I live at home, when I'm not at college like I currently am now] shop.

The manager of the store told me that the body can only absorb 20 grams of pure protein at each minimeal. I have been taking 60 grams of ON Whey at each minimeal, to get up to my 240 gram daily need. Now someone says I can only take in 20 grams per minimeal?? Is this true? If so, I'll need to be taking about a dozen minimeals to get up to the 240 mark, or even more meals then that!

Please tell me this isn't true.

Also, once again, tell me about the serving portions for Whey and Creatine? The Creatine I got, American Sports Fitness [60 servings, $40, 3 lbs tub] says 1 cup, which is included in the tub. The cup is about half as big as my old ON Whey cup that I was using for a while doing the Extreme Chocolate flavor. The manager told me that I should take 1/2 cup 30 mins before my workout and then the other 1/2 cup post-workout. Does that make sense?

Lastly, the Whey, also ASF, says I only need 1 ounce per serving. That seems awfully small??

This woman has really messed me up the head, saying I'm wasting my 60 grams in the minimeals I've been consuming, and that my portions are way too big. Can I get some clarification here? I think I'm doing fine the way I have bene for the past few weeks and I even think I've seen substantial gains, my biceps have grown 2 inches in about 1 month, I think it's from my Creatine cycling and those 4 daily 60 gram ON Whey shakes.

60g of protein per serving is too much, but 20g maximum is bullshit. i usually consume between 30-40g of protein per meal. but it depends on your individual calorie needs. determine how much protein you need in a day and divide it evenly into your 6 or so meals.

it just means he read some article he didnt understand thats all. you can absorb more. its debatable but thats only because people like to argue or get noticed for spouting some facts they dont usually even agree with or take themselves. and if you read different articles from different scientists and doctors. it varys some say you can digest 40 grams. its what youre body can handle. you can tell by how much time you spend on the toilet pooping. not a joke. if youre on there multiple times a day. lower how much protein powder youre using. and just use the scoop how it says man. and i would also say use half a cup before working out and then a full after. it wouldnt make sense to use the same amount before lifting since you already used that training and then maybe some. but in the end just listen to youre body. you say youre making progress and doing fine as is. then keep it up haha dont listen to other people if its working.

Until there is a definitive study that can show without a shadow of a doubt how much protein someone needs then don't worry about what they say.

I would say for an average person, 20-40 grams of protein per a meal is fine because on average people will take one gram of protein per a pound they weigh.

Ok, so 240 grams a day divided by 6 minimeals = 34 grams per minimeal. If I get 60 grams in 2 scoops, I should be taking 1 rounded scoop 6 times with my minimeals instead of 2 scoops in milk with my blender cup 4 times daily like I used to do. That makes sense.

What is troubling though, the serving size on the Whey saying 1 ounce. 1 ounce is 28 grams....damn, this math is giving me a headache, lol.

But the creatine, does the 1/2 cup pre and 1/2 cup post make sense? The manager said the loading phase was very wasteful, and you should just start like normal and continue for 3 months, taking sunday off [her exact words], and then after 3 months, take a month off and then start the process all over again. I'm just wondering if 1 whole cup is good enough?

Man, its so hard to follow those minimeals. I'm in college, and on mondays and wednesdays, I leave the dorms at 8 am and don't get back till 430 pm, I'm on my feet all those hours. What am I supposed to do, bring a gallon of water and 1/2 a ziplock bag full of powders and sliced meats along with me to mix up every 3 hours!?
