Anyone else tried any of these? I was lucky enough to be contacted about a month ago by a company representative asking if I wanted a free box of samples if in turn I would write up a review on one of the online sites they included. So, of course I took them up on it. And I'll be honest in my review, not just blowing smoke because I got a free box. Here goes:

I got a couple of different ones, one was Detour Runner, one was Detour Strength, and Detour Biker. I honestly didn't see much difference between them (besides flavor of course) but I may not have as diverse of a workout regime as needed to really see a difference, who knows. I like the flavors that they sent. A lot actually. They are different flavors than I typically see when I buy these types of protein bars in the store. One in particular was Lemon. I really liked that one. From a health standpoint, they probably contain a little more sugar than I'd really like to put in my diet by eating more than, say, one of these a day (1 bar = 10g).

Nutrition Facts:
Serving size 1 bar
Total fat - 6g
Cholesterol - 10mg
Sodium - 105mg
Potassium - 100mg
Total Carbs - 23g
Carbs from Sugar - 10g
Protein - 15g

That being said, I usually try to get in about 60g of protein a day, and to get that from these bars I would have to eat 4 bars a day, which would be a bit too much sugar and sodium for my personal taste. But, I can certainly see using these bars because of their taste when I need a quick bit of protein in place of say my normal first protein shake if I'm on the go and in a hurry and don't have time to blend up the shake, etc.

Overall review: Great taste to these bars, better than most any other protein bar I've tried - I like the selection of flavors and would definitely use these again. I probably wouldn't order them online but if I'm in a 7-11 or something and need a protein bar on the run, I'd go for these again in a second.

Good review. I prefer the Met-Rx Bars. 28g of protein. Protein bars are great for kids in school who need a quick bar to keep their protein up throughout the day.

I heard about detour awhile back, that they had a few facts wrong on there label. I heard there sugar content was alot higher. I think they have fixed the problem, just consider that when you are eating them. I like Oh Yea bars by ISS Research, especially when i first start diet they help chill the sugar craving and has a solid amount of protein

Cosign. Met-Rx bars are great during the day if you are really busy. I mean, i do prefer consuming protien from a more pure, natural source, but hey, we all get busy sometimes. I always keep a bar handy.

Detour bars are good, but really high in sugar. Or at least the ones I got at GNC were. I had to cut them out cuz of the sugar when I cut. They're good for protein though with 30 grams or so.
