No so sure what it will do for you on a cut. But im assuming you now its is a slow digesting protein and will stay in your system for 5-8hours. Which will provide nutrients while you sleep:) I have never cut so wait for someone knowledgable with nutrition.

yes there are quite a few threads on casein, but basically (no i'm not jay cutler) casein is digested and absorbed over a longer period of time, it's about 6-8 hours if i'm correct. which gives you sustained release of amino acids to help prevent muscle breakdown whilst you are sleeping.

and yes it will help prevent going into a catabolic state whilst you sleep, i would also recommend taking some bcaa's before bed.

You can also use it when you're not going to be consuming any nutrients for a long period of time, such as school.

well i am cutting as well and been doing this for years and have friends who compete so listen up (and I am sure people on here will agree with me). You can and should take casein all the time (cut or bulk) along with whey. Casein before bed is fine, it prevents catabolism because when your body is sleeping you still are burning calories (although its a slow process when you sleep because your metabolism is low, but your still burning calories). Your body will look to your muscles for energy to burn if there is nothing in your system to process and digest to aid in metabolism. Now if you have a casein shake before bed you now fill that void and prevent your muscles from being broken down for energy because you have a form of energy in your system now to use as fuel. The body is lazy by nature and requires less energy to sustain then muscle, so the body rather get rid of muscle then fat because of that reason. Take the casein, you won't be disapointed, you wont gain excess fat, but you might find out you gain a little extra muscle because you are preventing your body from breaking the muscle you are trying to gain from being used as a form of energy.

also take bcaa's with it as well.
if you take a multi in the morning do NOT take another one at night you will hurt your kidneys, because some of the vitamins and minerals are not water soluable and take longer to break down in the system, so if you have an abundence of those pilling up your kidneys will suffer (trust me I have done this before and it SUCKS!) Vitamin C is also something great to take before bed with casein and bcaa's.

I second THG. I have taken Casein for a bit now and have had an increase in lean muscle mass, also likely due to my other supps, but nonetheless I have not woken up starving.

thats the idea, its thicker and the casein helps stick the walls in the stomach better and give you the feeling of being fuller for longer and the release of protein is released over the course of X amount of hours (X being the time period depending on the company, some companies release longer than others)
