So what's the optimal amount of protein intake here? I hear so many mixed things. Also, should you take any less on off days?

1g/lb. No less on off days.

That trainer guy is dead wrong. He probably believes dietary protein cannot be converted to adipose tissue too... Anyway, glad I could help.

haha... Freaks bluntness is always appreciated i'm sure. yeah if thats all the/your trainer told you i would either ignore him or find a new one. 1.5-2 wouldnt be too bad if you had the rest of your diet manipulated in conjunction with this. But protein still contains calories, and must be counted as such.

Ok... ignoring him completely was a little over the top. lol, he may have good advice on other things, but keep in mind he wasnt completely wrong either. It just seems he kind of left you in the dark as where to go from there. Protein intake is very important, and if your newer to lifting/dieting he might of said that to get that point across.

That may be true, but he said you need to take 2/lb if you want to see any results - I know this isn't true as I've seen results for a long time with taking 1/lb. I'll still keep my ears open but on this subject I think he might be a moron

lol could be. I too see results with just 1/lb, but i think with CKD for instance going with a higher ratio would make alot of sense.

one/lb doesn't sound correct to me. For a intense workout I would push that up. Do you also do cardio?
