Ironwarrior, Layne has covered this many times on many forums. Glutamine has no scientific evidence to back it. Here is what he has put in another forum:
"-terrible oral bioavailability
-supplementation with it does not increase athletetic performance, strength gain, or muscle gain compared to controls
-supplemenation with glutamine does not increase intracellular glutamine levels
-of the lean mass gain shown (usually in sick or burn victims) during glutamine supplemenation; this gain can be attributed solely to small intestine hypertrophy as these diseases cause large scale atrophy of this organ and glutamine is the main metabolic fuel for the small intestine "
