What advice do you guys have on this? I have a friend who wants to switch to protein bars because his powder is nasty, no matter what he takes it with. And because it requires 2 glasses of w/e is mixing with it. Are bars bad? Even ones with low fat and 1 gram of sugar?

yeah what brand is he taking have him take Optimum brand.

These are not good substitutes for each other. I think most all protein bars are junk.

I would rather switch to a better tasting protein powder with more fat than to rely only on Bars. Bars are good one in a while but the ingredients contain high carbs sugar or fat because there more suited for meal replacement. If he trys to take a leaner bar I gurentee the taste will be a lot worse than his protein powder.

Do powder, dont substitute a shake for a bar...because one it tastes terrible and two...you absorb more through the powder as most everyone would agree. Only use a protein bar instituted with a meal throughout the day.

Protein powders beat protein bars hands down. Protein powders have some of the best protein:fat:carb ratios that you can find in any food. Protein bars are loaded with sugar, sugar alcohols, and saturated fats. Take the powders. Tell your friend to try another brand or flavor.

well said. some bars are real dodgy, powders are better in that case. if anything though, nothing beats a full complete meal.

Very true. Bars and powders are merely supplements. The majority of protein in the diet should come from solid food.
