I wouldn't call it fast digesting or slow digesting, but rather somewhere in the middle. Since it has whey isolate in it (which digests slower than just plain whey) in digests at a slower rate, but not as slow as casein. So if whey takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to digest, whey isolate takes anywhere from 1.5-2 hours (sometimes upto 2.5 hours depending on how much of the shake is isolate and if your taking anything else along with the shake.

... Whey isolate digests FASTER than concentrate.
I'd say it is slow digesting.
I have it right beside me and it has casein in it as one of the first ingredients so yeah, it's slow digesting protein.
Whey protein isolate is the purest form of whey protein and is the fastest digesting.
If you see casein protein in the ingredients, then you'll know it is slow digesting, if you see whey protein in the ingredients, you'll know if it is fast digesting.
Remember, isolate is the purest type of protein and concentrate comes after that.

I don't understad Muscle Milk is effective as a post-workout supplement. Wouldn't the high fat content slow down digestion too much making it difficult for the protein to be shuttled to the muscles quickly?

Forget about the whey for one minute and look at the fat content of muscle milk.

18 grams of fat and 32 grams of protein.

128 calories of protein and 162 calories of fat.

CYTOSPORT - MUSCLE MILK 2.48LB Protein Powder Supplement Facts Sports Nutrition - BodyConcept.com

Not quick digestion. The fat content slows down the rate of the protein digestion regardless of what it is.

Crusader is right, its not a good post workout meal at all.

I don't think its a good shake for Post Workout. And the reason people love it so much is the taste (which is why it has high fat).

Good catch on the isolate part azn, I meant concentrate.

Anyways, ON 100% Whey is great postworkout, but lacks the carbs, so I would invest into a carb powder to mix in with it, or eat like 2 pieces of white bread with your protein shake right after your workout. You don't want anything slow digest post, because you want the nutrients in there asap, not time released (this is the only time of the day you want to have fast digesting carbs).
